Tony, this is not a skin problem so this thread is not the best place for this discussion.

Briefly: the 1.13 log files show bizarre results. MediaInfo seems to be unable to detect the proper details (resolution, duration, video and/or audio presence, video and/or audio format etc.) for many of the recordings, including the one that you tried to play. When you played the video, MediaPortal used the overlay renderer (not a good sign).

What happens if you try to play "The Good Wife_More 4_2015_05_21_20_55_00.wtv"?
What happens if you try to copy the file to the local PC instead of playing it over the network?

What causes you to ask about VMR9?

P.S. The 1.12 log files would be helpful if they were debug-level. As it stands, they're info level. Therefore I can't do a proper comparison with them.

I have sent an email for mediainfo dev because we notice that recent version is broken on .TS files so maybe on .WTV too.
The issue detected was that thumbnail generator from tvservice get locked for those files, revert back the mediainfo.dll (.69) resolve it.
I have attached the older dll to replace in :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal
C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server

This will solve the thumbnail issue and maybe other thing lol.

I have try also the mediainfo GUI (from explorer context menu) and it crash mediainfo, so for sure there is an issue on that side

From the log files it seems that MP 1.13 is still using .69:

...or did you mean a different .69?

Can you check with 0.7.72? I added this version to 1.14 Pre.

Did you choose 0.7.72 instead of other versions (eg. latest 0.7.82) for a specific reason?

.72 was already in out nuget repository. I think it was used by MP2. With this update we switched to nuget and updated the dll.

Here's the 1.12.0 run with the log in debug mode.

Some of the other episodes run okay, but many don't. The key for me is that, under 1.12.0, I have no problems with any of the episodes. Whereas, under 1.13.0, I have issues.

The 1.13.0 issue happens whether or not I run MediaPortal on the same machine as the programs are located or over the network. 1.12.0, works either way.

Thanks for the updates and additional info Tony - very helpful.

From the way you've been describing the situation, I thought you were comparing MediaPortal 1.12 and 1.13 running on the same machine. On closer inspection I see that's not the case. You're comparing 1.12 running on a Surface Pro with 1.13 running on a laptop. I think the distinction is important because "extra-MediaPortal" factors could be at play here.

Behaviour of MediaInfo seems to be equally erratic in both cases, so for now I'm going to assume that's not the problem.

I need a little time to take a closer look at some of the differences in the log files before being able to say anything more...

Yep MediaInfo is broken : MediaInfo.0.7.72 (for thumbnail) (the latest 0.7.82 is broken too)
Yep i mean MediaInfo.0.7.69 so if it's the same then it's a different issue (or maybe MediaInfo.0.7.69 is not good too).

Tony, sorry to ask you to confirm again, but are you really really sure that the same file cannot be played by MP 1.13 if copied from \\mediapc01\tv\ to the laptop's ("MPCLIENT03") local HDD?
I ask because based on what I'm seeing in the log files and code, there are significant indicators pointing towards some kind of file permission/access issue.

P.S. I meant to say in my previous reply that VMR9 is only recommended for Windows XP. In all other cases the Enhanced Video Renderer (EVR) is recommended. So, your video renderer configuration is correct.
