Same Here

on DVD rips too...

I found that switching to VMR fixed it for me too...however, if I use VMR, I see the Windows Desktop for a split second every time I stop TV or video, before it returns to MP GUI.

Happens even if I switch to MPV codec from FFDShow...

Would be grateful if ced007 could provide directions on how he created profile :)

OK...fixed it! I uninstalled codec pack (Vista Codec Pack in my case), and installed SAF. I also obtained the Power DVD codec as instructed at the SAF thread.
Once I set TV decoder to PowerDVD 8, the "black box floating over MP" problem disappeared. I can now press Stop button and it returns to the GUI in really responsive time...seems less laggy :)

However, I did notice a bit of GUI flicker when scrolling through TV Guide. This has been documented elsewhere, and only ever occured for me in previous RCs when I last tried to use PDVD8 codecs from the trial version - back then it flickered so badly and would make MP crash...on this occasion, the flicker is far less annoying and MP does not crash...

So, I have inched closer to my "perfect build", if anyone knows how to fix the flicker problem, would be indebted for any clues...

MP Rocks!

    For the flicker problem:

if using ATI graphics card you can give the new 8.12 drivers a try

Can somebody else verify that this problem is codec related ?

    Which codecs effect it?

So far it seems to be limited to the usage of EVR + MPV/MPA codecs.

Had already upgraded to 8.12 the day before I hit upon the SAF solution.

I found in Mantis info relating to the flickering problem, so we won't need to talk about that on this thread :)

Instead, I wanted to ask you guys the following...
    1. Does anyone know how to determine if DXVA is actually on or off?
    2. SAF uses PDVD8 codec (supplied by user for copyright purposes). The PDVD Codec appears in MP config in TV, Movies and DVD config screens, but not in DirectShow Filter Control screen. Anyone know how to make settings changes to PDVD8 codec if it doesn't appear in MP Config?

that sounds very good. But, i'm not sure how to add a profile in ffdshow video or vfw. That is what you meand, right?? Hope you can help me out here!!

    Hello,
On my side I have used a tutorial I have found here:
Lecture vidéo sur PC, upscaling avec FFDShow Raw Video
Sorry it's in french :( but I'm sure you can find some in english.
Basicaly, for ffdshow to automatically run for DVD files you need to activate the "RAW video" option in the "codec" section which I have set-up to "All RGB" otherwise ffdshow is running in "My TV" too and I don't want this.
Then in the profiles/preset section, create a new one and in the "Preset autoload option", you put the setting 4cc set to MPG2 and you click ok, then you can choose the various filters you want to add for this profile. Don't forget to tick the "Automatic preset loading" to have automatically ran when corresponding file is viewed. You apply and click ok to close ffdshow...
    I hope this help.

i can NOT confirm that issue using:
    • MP 1.0 RC4 release
    • with MPV/MPA as codecs for video and audio
    • on an WinXP System
    • with VMR9 as renderer
    • with ATI HD 2600XT + Catalyst 8.12

anyone able to test with these codecs and 1.0 rc4 release please?

I found out that when using the power dvd codecs, it works ok. So the problem has something to do with codecs.

I am not using the powerdvd codecs, but MPV. and i do not have that problem.

could you please test with MPV selected as video codec?
