Okay.... Now we can get on with the topic that this thread was originally about..... Haven't you found any other way than removing memory (from 4GB to 3GB) from your system?

I myself have 4GB on a x64 Server 2008, and since I am using that server for a lot of stuff including SQL Database, TV Server, MediaPortal, SubVersion, Backup, etc. I wouldn't like to have to pull the plug on my memory modules. Have you created a support thread with Hauppauge on their website?

I just tried Vista 64 bit again and same results as before. Pinnacle 7010i, latest drivers, channel scan OK, but when tuning to say BBC1 I either get a totally black screen or very stuttery video, tried EVR and the other one, tried both Standard codecs. Excellent signal strength. So its back to 32bit again Any reasons why I am getting these problems?

Bit late with a response to this, but I had similar problems (as well as the x64/4GB crashing issue).

The Vista x64 WHQL drivers from MS Update date from August 2008, and are still spectacularly useless. I got around it by installing the latest Vista x64 drivers for the BlackGold BGT3540 (version 6.0.0.49 at the time of writing), which work flawlessly with the 7010iX.

I had a Pinnacle 3010iX, which uses the same philips 7162 chipset.
The problem is in the chipset, and will be never solved, because Philips made a new chipset (7164) and will not develop new drivers for the old 7162.
I sold my Pinnacle.
The only thing to do is to buy a new card with a new chipset and with drivers developed from the beginning in both 32 and 64bit flavours.
The 64bit/4GB is a common problem not only for tv cards.
For example, the first creative x-fi suffered for the same problem.
I think the solution is to rewrite drivers from scratch, because passing to 64 bit if you access >3Gb probably your system will crash.

I eventually gave up trying to get my Pinnacle 7010ix to work with Vista 64 and 4GB of RAM. Regardless of the drivers it would either BSOD or just be a black or stuttery screen.

I tried XP 32 and my Vista MCE remote would not work. So I then tried Windows 7 32 beta and everything works a treat

I actually installed the Win7 x64 beta on the same machine, but I couldn't get the card to behave at all - there were no BSODs when scanning for channels, but the video stream was horribly broken up and and unwatchable. I don't think it was a codec or GFX driver issue, as pre-existing files of any format seemed perfectly OK.

The card correctly identified itself as a 7010iX in Device Manager, but the only available drivers from Windows Update seemed to be for the 3010iX (not sure if they're effectively identical), dated January 2009.

The hardware is an Abit IP35-Pro, Q6600 (not overclocked), NVidia 8600GT (Win7 drivers from Windows Update).

All very weird. It's a shame, as the new media center in Windows 7 is rather nice, although I still prefer MP in most respects. I guess I might try Win7 again with the BG drivers when I get the chance, but you end up thinking life's too short, and if something ain't broke don't fix it...

I have been using VISTA 64 Ultimate for a while. I was on Vista 32 and had several issues with mainly controller type devices, sleep and the lack of support for more than 3.? Gb of ram (that is the 32 bit limitation not OS specific).
I was concerned with going to Vist 64bit due to drivers etc. Once installed everything seemed to be working very well.
Now that I have got back into configuring things all is not well.
The drivers for my Nova T500 TV tuner have issues with over a certain amount of ram, memory leak. They say over on there forum that it probably wont be fixed any time soon either. Still having LOTS of problems getting in and out of sleep, tuners not initialising and cant connect to the tv service.
Tried MPstandby handler but it appears that doesn't support vista 64 bit either.
I would say look at your hardware first. Look at the programs that you will be using to control your htpc to make sure that they will work.

I haven't given up on Vista 64 yet and hopefully I will iron out the issues. One thing IS for certain, for me anyway, it is no more buggy than Vista 32 bit or XP32 bit for me. All the OS's seem to have problems in one area or another. It just seems to depend on your hardware as to which of the OS's will be the less of the evils lol

OK, thanks to the tip about the latest 7010i drivers I now have a fully working Vista 64 bit Lounge TV / TV Server. The only problem is that my bedroom client, xp pro 32 bit, can see the server, see the epg, etc, but when I try to watch a channel on the client PC then the client MP just freezes, it worked fine when my server was Vista 32 bit. Any ideas please?
