Looks like MP is massively in the lead. Even though it is a small number of voters (about 130 votes, of which 32% use MP), the thread has been viewed by well over 2000 people.

MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback.
