I don't see where in the config where you can pick which decoders to use. When I click on an episode, nothing happens right now. The same video plays fine from the Videos section of MP.

I saw a thread where playing mpg files are an issue because it's using the TSStreamBufferPlayer instead of the regular player that Videos uses. In that thread, it said to change a setting in the mediaportal.xml but the setting isn't there.

    Has anyone solved this issue?

That has long gone, which version of TV-Series are you using, if you remove the plugin and install streamed MP skin, this will install a later version of TV-Series.

You also might want to see if you have any codec problems with filmerit.

I am using the StreamedMP skin version of TVSeries.

I ran filmerit - no errors. I've attached the logs.

It just shows if you have any codec problems, that may be screwing up windows choice of filters to insert into any graph created for watching video\audio, the padlock unlocks the repair function.

You did spot the link in my signature :)

Do the files play in Windows Media player.

Interestingly, it plays in WMP with no audio.

    Plays fine in VLC.

Well - I completely did a fresh install of Vista instead of XP. This time I did not install ffdshow or any other codecs except for PDVD Ultra.

Still not working - same behavior. Click on the episode, hear a click, nothing happens. All of the episodes were imported manually, not sure if that makes any difference but the mpg files are playable by VLC and WMP.

I'm a lazy person, so i use the Vista Codec Pack, This ensures all the codecs integrate with windows correctly.

Select FFDShow for all audio in MP's config.

You may need to change the FFDShow audio setting\codec MP1\MP2 from Libmad to Libavcodec, this the covers mono mpeg files as well.

Hopefully now you should be able to play all files in all applications.

    Ray,

All of my TV recordings are from HDHomerun and commercials cut out with VideoReDo resulting in an mpg file.

Can you or anyone else download this test file and see if you can import it and play it? It's only 10 seconds recorded in 1080i (27Mb).

It's from the TV Series Life, 2nd season. Episode - Evil and His Brother Ziggy.

    :D

Tried the Vista Codec Pack - didn't help.

Really frustrating - this plugin was one of the main reasons I switched from VMC.

Is there anyone else out there with VideoReDo produced MPGs that work? Any MPGs at all ?

I don't think so, because MP has no way of knowing at which timestamp the external player stopped playback. Best way to achieve this would be to use an auto-resume feature in your external player itself. (MPC-HC can do that, I don't know about VLC)
