Absolutely. I have my WHS serving up 90% of Media Portal's content. The remaining 10% of content pulled down from the intarnets (trailers, youtube et al..)
The 90% could be split into two categories:
> Content from a TV capture card (so live television content, and recorded television content)
> Other (Downloaded/Ripped/Shared/Home Video etc..)
Although not officially supported, TV-Server works fine on WHS/Windows 2003. I isntalled TV-Server on my WHS only after I had eliminated any errors from my windows logs (Start > Run > compmgmt.msc > Event Viewer). When every bootup, shutdown and everything in between was totally clean, I installed TV-Server. It's been rock-solid stable.
The non-TV content is a peice of piss to setup. Google "simple file sharing" and you'll be right. If you suck at teh googles then post back and I'll try to hold your hand.

MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback.
