It has been many moons since milkdrop worked with MP.

I see the latest MP RC5 now has support for this.

To save countless questions re this is there any chance of a quick few notes as to how this should be configured.

What version of milkdrop to use?

Is nscrt.dll still to be put in the

    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal" directory?

    AND also in the

    "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MusicPlayer\plugins\visualizations\winamp" directory?

Reading though the various forums re this - I think it is still quite confusing as much of the previous info is for very old configs etc.

It always depends on which version of Milkdrop you'll use.
If you use > 2.2, this is what come with latest Winamp, then NO nscrt is needed anymore.
for versions before that, you need nscrt.dll.

and Yes, you need to copy vis_milk2.dll AND the complete "milkdrop" subfolder from the winamp\plugins folder into the "C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MusicPlayer\plugins\visualizations" folder. Not necessarily into a winamp subfolder. i do that to keep winamp / sonique plugins separated.

    correctly !

    additional info!
remove all configuration file from Milk. which is important
and use not the configuration from Milk > 2.2
this caused any error and milk not run correctly.

that is a bug between Milkdrop > Win7 and i think in Vista to.

Well I have got milkdrop vis to produce a picture but visuals do not seem to be taking any notice of the musics beat and rythm etc.

I am using the asio music output of the built in music player plugin and asio4all as the asio device (as music player does not have enough config options to directly support my asio sound card - though the asio pureaudio plugin does support my sound card directly but doesnt now support winamp visualisations.

Milkdrop 2.2 works fine within Mediaportal 1.10 RC5, but the latest Milkdrop 2.21 does not run anymore (just released in a new Winamp built a few days ago). :(
