Xvid play back (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I installed the SAF codec pack. But in MP I cannot play xvids.
If I select one it goes as if it's going to play it then returns back to the MP screen.

I've set up the codecs as per robbo's guide.

Can anyone help please?

Hi Neil,

Do you have LAV filter pack installed at all?

I would suggest to install LAVF too.
And if you are running MP 1.3.0 Alpha you are able to specific a certain codec for XviD/DivX:

Yes I do. I installed that then followed the link on Robbos guide (to an external source) to set up the codecs for LAV.
This included Video, TV etc.[DOUBLEPOST=1353244232][/DOUBLEPOST]

Did you try to play your file outside MediaPortal in Graphstudio? STRAT - SAF - Tools - Graphstudio. Drag and drop your file here and hit play.
If still not work, try to use MKV Merge to remux your file to MKV.

But can I not just play all avi files without needing to remux?

Of course you can, but muxing to MKV can reveal or fix errors in file, etc...

ok - on my PC monitor (24") using DVI out.
The avi's play ok. But they are just smaller in the middle of the screen (not full size/stretched).

On my Panasonic 50" plasma TV.
I still get the problem where it will not play them via MP.
If I go to the Graphstudio, it seems to play but the audio is a mess.

I've tried these avi's (seems to be all avi files) using VideoLAN, PowerDVD 12 and they play fine.

Can you help please?
Is it something to do with the setup I mucked up on when installing the SAF pack?
I need everything to play via HDMI.
