while there can be always some improvements (not useful atm as a switch to an overworked hp is mostly prepared) those x out of whatever-numbers are nonsense cause they just follow stupid basic rule-sets.
try big sites and you get crappy results (especially if you include FB/Google/Twitter-stuff or use a cms with plugins/modules that bring their own css-classes):
    http://yellowlab.tools/result/e0azx4bngu
then try any of the other 5639 speedtests and you get 5639 different results

so yes, we can spend weeks to improve every possible css-class, combine images, css and js, whatever to get higher numbers (and repeat it on every template-/cms-update) but the results on the enduser would be within a few ms. And it will steal time from much more important things.

I don't think so, because MP has no way of knowing at which timestamp the external player stopped playback. Best way to achieve this would be to use an auto-resume feature in your external player itself. (MPC-HC can do that, I don't know about VLC)

I do not know why this xml was in my theme folders, it must have sneaked in some time ago (years?). I simply removed the file. The Latest Media Handler plugin seems to be working as expected. I've had no lock-ups.

OK....perhaps impatient of me I know, but went for a full reinstall....and now up and running once more. Have no idea what was at the root of this problem....still wondering if it may've been due to a Win11 update earlier this week?
