Nevermind! I resolved the issue after reading the log file/s from debug mode.
It wasn't a media portal issue at all.
It was a name resolution issue on the LAN. As my machine has a static IP it hasn't registered its IP address in DNS.

I would go for Win7 as well. Your PC will be too slow for any HD movies or HDTV, but should hopefully run SD ok. In 1.1.1, just use the "test timeshifting" button on the Channels setup screen in TV Setup. That will attempt to timeshift each channel one by one and uncheck the non-working ones for you.
