doesn't really matter because they are not going to revert to old texture 1rendering method
    you have 3 options
    1. new video card
    2. stick with MP 1.0 Final
    3. sometimes vista helps (with HD3200) so you can try that

Well I just reread all those messages and I think this is beyond me or maybe I am just totally confused? All I know is that my sound and picture is out of synch on our TV3 here in NZ and it has been ever since I went beyond MP 1.00. I tried many suggestions and never got it sorted. My set up details should all be filled in on my profile, but the main problem as I understood it was my ATI card drivers for my ATI Radeon x600. For a long time I could not upgrade my catalyst driver from a very old one that cam with my computer as the later versions would not let me configure the extended desktop to watch tv via MP on the second display ie an Analogue TV. Today I just had another go at it and finally managed to download the very latest ATI package and it lets me change all the settings, even lets me change to higher resolution than 600x800 etc. I just LOVE MP and it works pretty well perfectly for me apart from not being able to watch that one channel in digital HD. If I want TV3 I have to do it on the analogue card or watch the TV3plus one channel which is one hour behind TV3.

your setup is too slow for MP>1.0 + 1080i TV
you can try to overclock, but really you just have to stick with 1.0 until you upgrade your video card to a good dxva model (HD4670 recommended)

How much money would a suitable video card for my computer cost?

About $110 AUS for a 4670. Think that translates to about $125 NZ.

I just did a search on our local price spy site and they can be got for about NZ$110 .....

I take it that a card like that will work in my Dell dimension 9150 3.2gb dual core computer?

Also would a card like that if it was good for my computer be good for a while or is it quite likely that the developers of MP will make a later version in the near future that needs even faster hardware?

I find sometimes that it is better to make do with what I have for as long as I can and then just upgrade the whole computer, but a hundred bucks is worth spending if it keeps things going well for a while.

My other option of course is to just do what I do now and watch that channel on the analogue card.

Go for it with the graphics upgrade. I would, except I'm one of the lucky ones whose onboard HD3200 is hangin in there.

    Nooooo....

Main thing to make sure is you have a spare slot or space next the PCIe slot you plan to put it in. The heatsink is on the back of the card, and takes up any slot next to it.

I think the 4670 is reasonably "future proof", and should meet all current HD video needs. It is more likely that even higher definition video is going to push the next performance jump.... or maybe 3D. Bit of talk about that from Sony now.

4670 is not so good for gaming tho, if you wanted to game i would research into 4770 video card. it has better gaming performance per buck. however i think 4670 is very very good for HTPC. Buy the card from somewhere that will let you return it for restocking fee. however if i think about things a bit more, anything faster than 4670 is not worth it unless you are replacing your whole PC.

Might be because you are using vista. It seems that the few users who are hanging in there with HD3200 are using vista/HT3 cpu.
