While good coding, support and features are enough for lots of people, without a pretty interface (regardless of the CPU hit (provided it doesn't freeze the interface)) there are lots of people who will turn away.

Especially these days, with web pages and OSs often spending more time/money on appearance than content, everyone is forced to do more on the visual front or look risk looking outdated.

It seems like a high resolution skin would be a good option. Even if it needs a disclaimer that it needs a fast machine to run on, it would at least be a choice.

The skins that are being developed now are totally awesome, and I don't think MP risks being labeled anything but "stunning" visually when they are completed, but as more people become 1080i/p capable, they will expect these skins in that resolution regardless of the consequences.

Just put out a seperate graphics pack for 1080i/p, keeping the same XML as it scales with the resolution

Yeah, within a year or two literally all LCD TV's are going to be 1080p. People will expect there to be at least a basic skin they can use out of the box.

Really all that would make me happy is to have a 1080 version of BlueTwo. The same thing done to create the 720p version of BlueTwo, just rescale the graphics in Photoshop just so things look nice and smooth (no pixelation). I had a look through some of the skins xml's, but didn't look at the skins doc yet, but this looks like a lot of work to figure things out. We'll see if my desire for a 1080p skin outweighs my laziness :)

Why don't the people asking for a 1080 skin just design one. Not many people have this resolution now.
I know when I get a 1080 screen one day it would be nice if I could download a skin to suit made by falser.
Media Portal is free so I wouldn't expect people to think along the lines

Comeon people .. what makes Media Portal fantastic is Participation.
You want a skin then try helping by giving it go yourself.

I second that…. Too many people complain about things not being up to scratch but do nothing about it to expand media portal. It’s a free program and people give there free time to make it an unsurpassed program to download without a fuss.

If your not going to unite with the development, then don’t criticize it.

Yes problems are all fine, because we all have them. But don’t say that this is not there with out a answer, or willing to help.

But positioning is done absolute, and scaling is based on the size you indicate the skin to be so it wont matter. Your indexed graphics will be resized, and in cases were the images size isn't defined it would become huge.

This really is not true at all.

Erm no. As a matter of fact it is true. Probably not in one year but definately in two or three.

Of course if you talk about <$100 devices yes you are correct. And <$50 we'll have some CRT still.

Well, in Holland one of the comercial stations announced that all of there stations will transmit in 16:9 in 2007......
HD are only a few pay tv channels and a few sport events like the world championship football.
But for the HD 1080 users get a group of people together and start working.

I'll be tinkering around with creating a 1080p skin based off of BlueTwo. But nobody hold your breath. It wouldn't hurt to have others working on their own.

From the bit that I've tried the interface does seem to support 1920x1080, I don't think there's any roadblocks technologically.

In EC by 2012 we'll have only digital broadcasting and in US by 2008. These are not estimations, it's the law.

Of cource this doesn't (necessarily) mean HD.

To other people reading about this 'issue', Doskabouter provided me with a fix/patch. It is a modified version of tswriter.ax which solved the problem with dolby digital plus audio. I want to thank Doskabouter for all his time and energy he put into resolving this!!

i love how subtitles are implemented in the MP2 videoplayer, this is just perfect. 1080p playback is also very good. But video playback in MP2 is buggy when playing 4k material. Therefore: PLEASE add an option for an external video player! I'd LOVE to have VLC back as videoplayer, like in MP1! This works perfectly. You will make a...

Interesting. :coffee: I always have DVB subtitles enabled in "MP Config", but I actually switch on subtitles only for those films that have deafening sound effects and music, combined with inaudible dialogue. I have never noticed the problem that you have described, but I also use the EVR renderer, and not the Madvr renderer. So...

Thanks for explaining. I found a passing reference to this here: https://www.team-mediaportal.com/wiki/display/MediaPortal1/HID%20Profiles which I had overlooked in the past. I would find it logical for a created custom profile to be automatically activated, but until that happens, I will try to create a wiki page for the current...
