For some reason the nVidia Control Panel doesn't actually remember that I've made a custom "23 Hz" mode (it just lists 24 Hz and 60 Hz but when I make a new 23 Hz one it asks if I want to overwrite...) so I can't check the actual settings I used. I *think* I used 23.976/4/1128 for these results:

CUVID:

1080p24%20CUVID.png

DXVA2 Native:

1080p24%20DXVA2.png

With DXVA2 I should only get a frame drop every 5 hours :D. It says 11 dropped frames there but that's just due to a couple of dropped frames at the start of the file (probably because they're on the network and not local) and it also went up when I took screenshots (the graph also went a bit crazy).

yeah 23.975 of course, sorry for the error. Thanks for your screenshot, I'll post mine soon too. And for the 23hz that it's not in the Nvidia custom resolution panel (only 24hz) I confirm that it's the same thing for me.

Can you test, if you start for example casino royal and have 23.975944 like the screenshot then stop the movie and start it again, will you have the same meas. rfsh. For me, i can say no. It's a different measure everytime. So Maybe your CUVID and DXVA2 difference is there. And not codec related. Please confirm. thanks a lot.

Great news this morning, for me at least. Last evening I wanted to post some logz with the help of "WatchDog" trying to see whats wrong with my drops every 2mins or so. And you know what, since watchdog start MP from scratch without any plugins, every materials i throw at it was perfecly smooth. Never seen this since day 1. So problems partially resolve for me. I'll keep you updated if i found wich plugins make those drops.

UPDATE: Even my Hauppauge Colossus playback is perfect without any drops. I Never experienced this so i'm pretty sure i'm on a good track. I'm pushing my investigation slowly,. I'll update my post in about 5hrs, when i'll be at home.

UPDATE2: Finaly, it's not related to any plugins, it's very weird. Since I start Mediaportal Debug-Mode once, MediaPortal video and tv playback is working better than ever. I don't know what to say. i did a test of 15 000 frames of 23.976 material and i got 0 drop and perfect smooth playback. Same thing on the TV side. One good thing about this investigation is that I've found a bug in the tv side. I will open a new thread for that.

First thing to say is that I use MP1, whereas I believe that you use MP2. @ge2301 has just posted that MP2 has a "folder view" in addition to the "library view", so you should be able to set up your system as I describe below, but the details will differ. In MP1, the folders that are to appear on the "Videos" panel are defined in "MP...

Thank's, I had already disabled the option in MP. Anyway, last night, after several tests, I suddenly hooked up the correct frequency. Honestly I've done dozens of tests and so I don't know what is the thing that unlocked the problem, but now it works.

Ok, so perhaps a solution, but not the "right" solution. On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well. Sure I had to figure out the paths, but no big deal. Maybe helpful for someone in the future. Thanks for the...
