Adding External Channels (1 Viewer)

I am trying to add External Channels so IRServer can control my STB, When I go to add channels and add a new channel I cannot find an external tab or button allowing me to set the channel up. Am I missing something.

For starters are you using the in-built TV engine of MediaPortal or the TV Server? If you haven't downloaded and installed the TVServer alongside MediaPortal then you're using the in-built engine.

The following applies to the TV Server but if memory serves it's very similar for the in-built engine as well:
Click on 'Add Channel', then go to the 'Analog' tab.
In the 'channel' text box enter the channel number of the STB, i.e Sky Sports 1 on my STB is 401, so I'd enter 401 here.
In the source drop down, choose which input the STB signal is coming from, for me this would be SVHS #1.
The other options aren't needed as you're not scanning for anything.
Name the channel in the 'General' tab and then click 'OK'.

You're channel is now setup, and you should be able to view it, if you've setup IRServer correctly then it should send the channel number (i.e. 401) to the STB to change the channel.

TV Server

I am running TVserver. I actually have gotten that far , and I can see the codes being blasted to my STB but the channel never changes. During the Setup of the ir blaster plugin the channel changes successfully.


I have also setup zap2it to download to the xmltv folder I was originally trying to import those channels but that did not work for the channel setup. So now I am trying manually and the blasting is the only issue there.

Just a thought the example you provided has 3 digits, is it possible I need to input my channels in 3 digit format. 001, 002,003 I wonder.

It stinks I am at work and wont be able to test until tonight.

If you have to enter 3 digits using the STB's remote to change channel then you'll need to set the channels up in the TV Server the same.

You say that the codes are being blasted, so could it be a timing issue? I'm not using the IR server suite, but i think you can change the blasting speed, try slowing it down and see if that helps.
