    Hi laeb66,

I don't think you really need such top level performance for MP. Just a good H/W TV Card and a good Dx9 Graphic card. The rest doesn't need to be too special. (check out the guide at the top of this forum).

But if money is no problem and you want something quite then take a look at Hush. I think they have some of the best passive cooled systems on the market.

    Cheers,

    /James

    Hi,

difficult to say. Personally, if money is not importand (wish I could also say that ;)), I would go for something like that:

nForce4 Ultra based motherboard socket 939 (ASUS)
    AMD X2 processor (dualcore)
    at least 1 GB RAM
at least 250 GB SATA HD
    DVD Burner
    ATI X1800 / X1900
DVB-S dunno (Fire- or FloppyDTV), you may whatch out for DVB-S2 (HDTV).

Biggest problem with a system like that: Get it cool and quiet for a reasonable price... ;)

As case I am dreaming of:
    http://www.mcubed-tech.com/eng/hfx.htm
Totally passive cooled, don't ask for the price. :)

This would be my ultimate HTPC + gaming machine for the next few years.

    Flip.

    Hi,

Have you seen the top spec hush. It costs a boom but:

    • Board - MSI K8N Diamond,S.939,Soundblaster24Live7.1 on Board
    • CPU_Processor - X2 4800 AMD Athlon™ 64 Dual-Core Prozessor
    • DVD_Drive - DVD Writer ± R/RW dual Layer
    • Desktopcolor - Silver
    • Front_Panel - Front Panel with USB/FireWire/internal IR/Mic/Phone
    • Graphic_Card - PCIe ATI RADEON™ X1800XL, 256MB DDR3,Graphic-Kit
    • Harddrive - 400 GB 3,5'' HDD, 7200RPM
    • Memory - 1 GB (4x256MB) DDRAM PC400
    • Remote_Control - Remote Control, IR, RC6 only for MCE
    • Software_Antivirus - eTrust™ EZ Antivirus 2005 (V.7.1)
    • Software_Burning - Nero 6.0 OEM Suite
    • Software_DVD_Player - CyberLink Power DVD 6.0 OEM
    • Software_OS - Windows XP MCE 2005 & Works Suite 2005 (english)
    • Sound_Card - Creative Soundblaster Live 24-bit on Board
    • TV_Card - TV Hybrid Card PCI, for Analog Cable or Digital TV
    • VFD_Graphic_Display - VFD Display Graphic, blue, integrated into the Front panel

I think that should last a few years !! plus ist small and makes no noise.

Extra TV tunners can you always external. Of couse you don't get the fun of building it.

    /James

PS. I don't work for Hush, but if cash was no problem as you say I would buy one.

I had the same feeling about MP1, nothing was working out of the box, it was full of hardcoded dependencies and bugs. That’s how I came to MP2 and I’m very happy with it ;)
