I think this is an excellent idea.

still looking for a simple solution for this.

I once tried this for test purposes, not very nice but covered all basics:

Probably not of much use, as it is not open source i think, just quick and dirty.

On the other hand, if an open source solution existed, you could concentrate on the integration, not the ripping ( I am no developer. Might be rubbish).

Going purely down the open source route.
Im looking at using code from http://www.arbingersys.com/concerns.html to do the conversion as its all proven and working. It would appear that MP already uses some of their code to do the MP3->WAV conversion for the CD Burner....so the hooks into their DLL's are already in place.
It should (cough cough) be a fairly simple task :p
No timelines of course....as lots of real world stuff going on at the minute.

    Hi,

Please do! I'm in desperate need of an "archive your CD collection to your HD" plugin! ;)
    Please consider the following "features":

    - bitrate selection
    - freedb lookup
    - ID3 support for MP3
    - codec selection

    IMHO mandatory features. :)

    Kind regards,
    Michel

    Great idea,

please think also on DVD ripping.

No chance on that one from me. In my opinion its too specialised......Auto Gordian Knot is your best chance for that.

I think we should use an open source program. There are quit a lot out there.
Maybe Cdex could be used. It's Open Source, and quit good.
http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/ (Page seems to be temporary down)

There are some guys working at this and it would be nice, if we could get them together (maybe using this post)
to get a working and most flexible solution for MP that fits for all needs. :)

For just DVD-Ripping DVDDecrypter could be used.
Shrinkto5 can rip and shrink a DVD to fit on a regular DVD and afterwards burning this. It's also Open Source.

A plugin that can rip CDs and DVDs would be great.:D
Maybe we could get thi in two steps.
    First CD ripping and converting.
    Second DVD ripping converting.

    Regards

I second the use of cdex if possible. I was trying to find out if it had a command line interface but like you said the site is down.

I have used this program for a long time and IMHO its one of the best for cd ripping and encoding.

Fixed, I think. Certainly the vintage MP2 installer that I was using no longer installs the LAV filters. I can only assume that these were never part of the install package itself, but rather downloaded during the install, and that link no longer exists. Shame that the installer doesn't indicate this. Last time when I installed the...

I have also had this problem in the past. There are two components to this problem: Your internet router is pinging the HTPC at regular intervals in order to see if the HTPC is still present on the network. The network adapter in the HTPC has "Wake on Lan" enabled. So at the end of a recording, the HTPC transitions from away mode to...

100% my bad - as expected :) So, I had disabled the Windows Update service. Not a wise move, until MP all installed and working nicely. The reason it failed is because DotNetFrameworkChecker.cs looks in Registry HKLM SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\NET Framework Setup\\NDP for v4/v4.0 AND v3.5. W10 has V4.0 but not 3.5. MP installer...
