Hi,

I am trying to run MediaPortal with a Cinergy S2 PCIe _Dual_. Both tuners show up under the cards tab in TV server config but the type column says "Unknown" and there is no child node under the TV server. Any ideas?

Both tuners show up under the cards tab in TV server config...
That is because TV Server has known about them in the past.

...but the type column says "Unknown" and there is no child node under the TV server. Any ideas?
That is because TV Server has failed to detect the tuners.

Does the card appear in Windows device manager?
If so, does TV Server detect the card after restarting:
    1. Open TV Server configuration.
    2. Click "stop service"... then "start service".

If so, increase the "delay before detecting cards" here:

Cool, that did the trick. Thank you!

(On a side node, I set it to 20secs)

    Cheers, Michael

I have the same card since some weeks, but nothing but problems. There are frequent tuning errors (according to the log file a custom tuning call fails), after that the card turns red in Tvserver Config (under Manual Control) and can be used only after a restart of TV service. So I have configured a restart of the service after standy plus the wait time to detect the cards. So far so good. But now it turned out that recordings frequently stop after some minutes. I am using the newest driver from the Teratec website under Win 7 32 bit.

I am intested if the card is reliably working in your PC, or if you also have more trouble.

    Best regards,

    Michael

I am now considering to buy a Digital Devices Cine S2, they seem to really and actively support Mediaportal.

    Hello Team,

thank you for taking care of this question so quickly. Any hint how to resolve this issue would be welcome. I have no more ideas since I have tried already all kinds of setting for the card. The only settings that at least reduce the problem are:
    - Reinit service after standby
    - Wait 10 sec before service detects tuners (if not set in 50% of the wakeup only one tuner is recognized)
    - Set Provider for the two tuners to 'DVBS' instead of 'Generic'

I have attached the TVServer Logs of today where I have reproduced the errors, using the Stress Test utitility (and yes, I have checked the 'Snyc' checkbox). That does the job quite fast, after 15 seconds and some 10 tunes both tuners were blocked (see screen shot in the attachment). I need to restart TVService to get the tuners work again.

Driver version for the Cinergy S2 Dual is 5.1.7.9 which is the most recent driver.

Besides this the system is a dedicated TVServer with:

    Mainboard: Asus P5Q
    CPU Q9450 2.66 GHz
    4GB Ram
    ATI Radeon HD3400
    Win 7 32bit Ultimate with SP 1

As you can see also from the attached screen shot there is still a Cinergy S2 PCI in the system (had 3 of them for 5 years, two were defect now, the Cinergy S2 Dual is the replacement for these). I never had any issues with the Cinergy S2 PCI. Even if the two Cinergy S2 Dual tuners are blocked, the Cinergy S2 PCI tuner still works fine.

I also checked the BIOS for any strange setting for power management, PCIe bus or similar, but did not see any setting that looks like it could be related to this issue.

Please let me know if there is any other information I could provide, or what I could try out. Any thank you in advance for any help.

    best regards,

    Michael

Since yesterday I have now the DD Cine S2. Works like a charm. Installed the driver, configered the tuners in MP, mapped the existing channels. And it works. Tried both the stress test with several hundred tunings and also concurrent recordings and live tv. Also tested after standy (without service re-init and no wait to detect tuners). The tune times are well below a second.
