Anyone, is it just me or isn't there something quite unpleasant about those selling MP on ebay for a profit? Have I missed something, are they paying a licence % to all the Devs @ MP?
If there is a positive side to it (and it is a very tiny 'if' because what these sellers are doing is wrong), it does do a good job of advertising MP. I was on eBay looking for Windows XP MCE at the time when i came across MP which i'd never heard of before (and yes i was stupid enough to pay for it before doing any research...)
I know I'm still picking up on old threads on this but it still bothers me so replies follow:
mPod - I knew the devs got nothing from these, what I consider 'illegal' auctions of MP on Ebay, I was joking when I asked if you got a %, I know these Ebayer's are not giving back. I think the time you lot put in to this project is amazing and extreme thanks to all of you.
Pom (Lee) - I think that is an excellent story of how you 'found' MP. I hope you found you had been ripped off before giving feedback as I think this is the way to let them die. Most of those auctioning MP on Ebay are selling other products too. I've been very tempted to buy MP @ £2.99 and then give them negative feedback detailing that they're ripping off . Of course so many £2.99's would add up!
Okay - I don't find anything positive in your comment, it is your point of view, which I admire but I acknowledge it thus: googling is not the answer to world hunger and poverty. I am very ashamed that I am not as intelligent as you. How can I be prerfect like you and stop being a sucker to tricksters/gamsters and cheats?
I am also intrigued to know what Happy Talks posting was as he/she was selling MP on ebay but apparently giving something back to those very hard working MP Devs?! Post has been deleted.
Steeb, the best thing to do is not think about it too much.
As you probably know from the old threads, there is nothing in the GPL that prohibits this. It does seem wrong though.
As long as the Auctions are not passing themselves off as MCE or something (which they used to do) thn they are legit. The first thing people will see when they install MP is a big banner saying "Free Software" unless the seller took the time to remove it from the source (which I think is not allowed).
All of us should object to money being made for free at the expense of the MP developers hard work. How does everyone feel about if the seller made it clear that this could be downloaded for free elsewhere and charged only for the cd and postage with clearly no profit beng made? Surely then they are just spreading the "good word" about MP.
Ok, thanks much. I will look into the instructions above. For the moment, I turned off the "Automatic channel logo update" in Settings (which somehow I had missed, I think because it wasn't an option previously), and the deleted everything in the Flat-default folder and populated it with my own logos. Works, so far.

Hi--
I have to revisit an old issue, unfortunately. I just downloaded MP 2.5, a fresh installation, on a new computer (reluctantly...
I am running a Xubuntu machine as a server with all my movies and series on it, I run a VirtualBox VM with Windows 10 installed on the virtual machine and MP1 client installed on that.
MP runs fine on the VM but I no longer have a tv tuner to test if passthrough is possible. I don't think it would work anyway.

I clicked on the box highlighted in the attached screenshot and also added English GB to that and removed the existing English EN. Misspellled words (like that one) are now underlined with red wavy line.:)

After many hours of troubleshooting I've given up and accepted that it's just "one of these things" when using madVR for watching live TV. I've now ticked the box to "Use EVR for LiveTV", with a default display refresh rate of 50Hz. In combination with tweaking some of the Nvidia 3D settings for the MP executable only, I now have a...
