What is wrong with using the Built in EPG grabber? I also have schedules direct for my analog, but there is no reason to use it when the built in grabber works just fine. Being a noob... I will let you know how I do it... it's very simple. I assume if you are going to be watching dish or bev... you will be using the tv server.
This is how I am doing it for Dish. I have a sat set up for bev, but don't really use it.
You first need to set up all your channels. Once this is done, make sure the grabber is not set to all channels. I also turn off all languages. When you ready, you will need to select 1 channel that has the 2 day guide or 9 day guide to download. I use channels 200 for the 2 day and 239 for the 9 day. I select my channel and then wait like 2 seconds and click over to manual control. I don't know why but it seems like the tv server will not do anything if you don't. I also have my task manager open. At this point you should see your tv server for your dvb card say Grabbing EPG. You should also see the memory for the tv server rising at about 1MB per second. Let it do it's thing until the tv server is Idle and then go uncheck your channle you were using to grab. At this point, I usually reboot my server just to clean up any memory it left behind. If you are download the 9 day guide, this should be good for about a week or so until you run the process again.
Sometimes I have to run this to make sure it knows it needs new data.
UPDATE [MpTvDbRC1].[dbo].[Channel]
SET lastGrabTime = '1/1/2000 12:00:00 AM'
That is it. This also gets ALL channels.... not just most of them like schedules direct has.. and you don't have to worrie about matching them up.
Well I've been messing with MP rc2 for about a week now and I LOVE IT Got everything working... All but this EPG. I'm usually pretty good at getting things going without having to post a noob question but I'm stuck. I am unable to get the Dishnet EPG to populate. I've tried what ASiDE posted and still have only 50% of my channels showing up, with the others showing no data. I've been using Ch. 200 to start with.
Checked 200 in TV EPG Grabber
Flipped to manual control and let it go till idle
Unchecked 200 in TV EPG Grabber
Closed TV Server Config
Opened MP With missing EPG Data
Any Ideas?
P.S. Are there Dishnet Icons for MP around anywhere?
After Tv Movie EPG Import++ is unrepairable, I tried Tv Movie EPG Import. Unfortunately, the import gets stuck here. Does anyone have an idea why this could be, or does it still work for anyone at all?

Hey CyberSimian you nailed it!
Looks like the secret is:-
After EPG Collector has Run and provided the TVGuide.xml
Open MediaPortal - TV Server Configuration
"Force Import" on the Plugins/Xmltv/General dialogue, (ignore the status)
Go to the Mappings dialogue and Load/Refresh and Save a Group - (It does not appear to matter which...

Hi everyone
I posted in the EPG section a while back concerning MediaPortal EPG using EPG Collector and MediaPortal xmltv plugin...
In the UK, the EPG transmitted in the DVB-T datastream allows each programme to have two genres -- a primary genre, and a secondary genre (i.e. a subgenre).
The primary genre might be something like Film (or Movie in the USA).
The secondary genre for Film might be something like: Action, Comedy, Crime, Fantasy, Romance, Science...
