Hi.
Try to disable WMV completely in LAVF Settings. Splitter, Video and Audio Part. WMV is a native Windows format that plays best if you leave the system as it is...
BTW Testing such files in VLC did not make much sense as VLC did not use Windows DS system to playback video files...Better to use Windows media Player or GraphStudio or something like that. VLC is good for seeing if the file is playable at all, but everything else you can not test with VLC...

try to insert EVR renderer and remove VMR video renderer - will it play in that case?

I'm getting exactly the same error on wmv files since i installed 1.3b. Tried fiddling with the LAV settings suggested but nothing helps. I can play the same files without problems with WMP and i'm pretty sure 1.2.3 worked fine too.

Can anyone help out?

I had similar problem playing WMV under 1.3, don't think it happened with 1.2.3 - I think it was unticking Source Splitter Selection in Video Codecs that fixed it for me, may be worth a try.

Excellent, thank you! I don't know what the setting does but it fixed wmv's and everything else still plays fine
