I have had this problem of haali not beeing disposed with MPC-HC for ages now... unfortunately this problem under windows 7 is even worse. You can not play more then one .mvk without restarting mediaportal or the second one gives an error. I've tried everything I can (various versions of haali and MPC-HC, codec packs, ecc.) but was not able to solve the problem. I have this problem also with a fresh install of windows 7 + haali + MPC-HC or SAF. I wonder if someone that experienced the problem has been able to solve it or what can we do to find the cause (ati drivers?, other).

I give here my configuration that causes the problem:

    - Windows 7 x86 RC (but the problem is there also with windows XP)
    - haali media splitter (version on haali site but I have the problem also with the new version x86/x64)
    - MPC-HC codec (tried various versions)
    - reclock (the problem is there even without it)
    - EVR
    - SPDIF Passthrough using ac3filter
    - ATI 3450 Video card with ATI 9.7 drivers
    - thumbnails generation in MP deactivated
    - ATI BE-2400 Processor with NForce 560 Chipset

Hope we can find the cause of the problem together...

For begin, lets try to find source of problem.
Are you able to disable DXVA decoding in MPC-HC decoder?
If yes - is the problem still there?

If I disable DVXA the problem is not there anymore...

    OK.
Now i did some test and i think this must be MP related, becouse on GB-PVR is Haali closed corectly when video is stoped.

What we know is that only happend when with MPC-HC with DXVA on
It doesnot happend with MPC-HC DXVA off or using PDVD9 (DXVA on) decoder.

    The question is why?

Becouse it is working fine under GB-PVR, my tip is some MP bug...

That's what I think too but you said you (and many others) do not have the problem... maybe it's driver (ATI) related?

So you have the problem... but I tried to reproduce it on my notebook today (it has an NVidia 9700 mobile card and Vista home premium) and I was not able to reproduce it. Even with DVXA enabled haali is disposed without problems. So I think it's the combination ati + MediaPortal that leads to the problem.

I will try again with XP on my HTPC tonight (I have a dual boot) to verify that I remember correctly, that is that the problem is there with XP too.

I've checked my xp installation (on the same pc where I have windows 7 and have the problem). The problem is there, that is haali is not disposed.

The only difference is that you can play another .mkv and you will have two or more haali icons in tray.

If I remember well the problem was there under vista too...

So I can reproduce the problem on a PC with ati video card but not on a PC with nvidia video card. The suspect is that the cause is a combination of ati drivers/video card and mediaportal.

Re: Haali icon not disposed of, i was able to get this problem to occur with mplayerc.exe too. If you google it, it can happen with other players too. basically haali icon remains until the program that called it is closed.
