I´m going to buy a new harddrive for my HTPC...

Which one should i choose??

SATA 7200 RPM is the only requirements... And of course it should be as silent as possible ;)

Have 3 seagates in mine and do not hear them, but so many people like the samsung spinpoints as well.

hmmm you really do make giving you a definitive answer hard work.

Simply there is no such thing as the best, only what you like.;)

I've used Seagates, Samsungs, and Maxtors in sizes from 80-400GB, and the quietest by a loooong way are the Samsungs. The new T range in 3, 4, or 500GB are really good, just a low rumble which you won't hear at all from >1m, no matter how quiet your room is.

    I don't know that one - I'd suggest the T133 300GB, or 400GB, or maybe even the 500GB if you're feeling flush

Ran into this problem following an otherwise sucessful upgrade from MP 1.34 x64 to MP 1.35 x64 the CEC Remote plugin which I use just to control volume and standby, will no longer put my devices (TV & AVR) to sleep when the HTPC is put in standby. Also when I wake up the HTPC MP closes or crashes (not sure which) as per the example in...

Ok, so perhaps a solution, but not the "right" solution. On the client, within media portal configuration, under TV settings, advanced options, I switched to UNC paths instead of the default RSS, and it's working very well. Sure I had to figure out the paths, but no big deal. Maybe helpful for someone in the future. Thanks for the...

Hello, I would like to use a media server to display various learning categories. I prefer not to use software like Kodi, as it requires extensive metadata scraping that I don't need. Is it possible to instantly access the video categories when landing on the page? I would like to display a single media page with the following...
