I'm not very good at visualization, so I took the 30 seconds to round out the corners and add a drop shadow. Here it is for comparison in case anyone else needs to see.

...The problem with round corners and dropshadow is, that it's easy to make in Photoshop, but pogramming a window useing transparency or shadow is much harder (correct me if I'm wrong)than just a square window. If one of the developers can do this "trick" I think we should totally break the square look and do something in the style of Photoshop

madsrh, sorry for always stealing your graphics. Anyway, I think maybe a vertical gradient instead of a horizontal would work better, as it matches the logo. Example:

Also, after looking at this square and rounded, I think the rounded corners are a bit nicer, probably because of the rounded logo and text (making it all just flow together).

In the end I prefered your one before: the box was more compact and the name had more punch.

I agree, the compact version is better. But the best one is the conservative one. (Or they need to be skinnable...). because having s splash screen looking like 3DMP loading PMIII would be ridiculous.
