    Wow antonehenry,
I am so sorry you are having so many issues. My system has never been more stable than it is today. I record Friends twice or so a day, Chuck on Monday and The Office on Thursday with no problems. Every time I install a new version of MP I always reset the HD-PVR's, but otherwise I dont touch them. I have two tuners that run on my server, and also have three other clients that use the same tuners with no issues.

Have you tried to turn off DD on your STB to see if that helps any? I know some say that helps with the stuttering on their systems, but that shouldnt be causing your issues. I know you are running the 1.1 drivers, have you possibly tried to roll back to a previous version? Or maybe run the hwclear to clean your system of Hauppauge drivers and re-install?

I'm curious, WileE and pw6206, as to how stable your systems are.

My HD PVR with MediaPortal fails randomly many times over and again. I have to restart TVService, or reconnect the HD PVR, or sometimes both. I recorded a television show while I was away last night, it started just fine, but twenty minutes into it the picture became very pixelated and eventually froze all together. I'll post some logs just in case.

This "wait for pmt" timeout has always been a problem for me. It's what it says at every fail. What conflicts with the HDPVR in order to make it non-responsive to Media Portal?

What hardware revision and drivers do you have? My HD-PVR is much more stable that ATSC.

that's what is says on the bottom.... 1.053 driver listed on the website right now is actually what I'm using.

I had originally been using the 2 channel audio. I can't find hwclear anywhere. But I should be able to uninstall and reinstall the drivers pretty easily.

It's weird the way this thing works. Using IR Blaster, the response time to channel changes is EXTREMEly slow. Literally 8 seconds from the click on the TV Guide til picture.... then pause it for a few seconds for the lag to catch up. 10 seconds to change the channel total.

I'm just thrilled that this is working, to be honest. My TV is stuck on the PC input right now, so this is the only way I can watch live tv. haha. And that actually works pretty good, except for random "unable to timeshift" errors that will happen a couple times a day.

Going to try driver reinstall right now. Thanks for the quick responses boys.

    EDIT___

Well I've reinstalled. Everything is the same, but his "connection lost" error was a new one. So here. =[

Yes, it works correctly with TME. Its been working okay with MP. I know how to get it running when it wont.

For exqample I was gone for a couple of days, came home, couldnt start tv. So I exited MP. restarted TV Service, then Reconnected teh HDPVR. THen is worked fine. sorry for my bad typing, i cut two of my fingers and now i"ve regressed back to finger pecks.

Anyway, I will keep testing and try out more suggestions for troubleshooting if you have any. =]

    sage, but i uninstalled it.

i left the TV On, on all week and it worked just dandy. But if I turn it off, something is up with tv service that doesn't want to start TV well again.

I might do a fresh install of windows in a while here, could help me out.

    Hi Everyone ....

I'm setting up my first TV Client. My server and client on my main server system is working well with the HD PVR.

It looks like the Client on my second system cannot connect to the database. This is the error log entry:

2008-12-29 10:03:15.343750 [ERROR][TvClient-Radio: HeartBeat transmitter thread]: TVHome: Error in Reload - The database backend (provider SQLServer) could not be reached.
    Check the connection string: Password=mediaportal;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=sa;Initial Catalog=MpTvDb;Data Source=multimed-rec-ro\SQLEXPRESS;Connection Timeout=300;

I initially thought that it was a firewall problem but my client is able to communicate with my server. The 'record' indicator will come on when the server is recording and go off when it is not.

Can anyone give any suggestions on how I can make connection with the database on the server? I am a complete novice at this so I simply don't know where to start.

I'm using the MP and TV# downloads from the first post, which I believe are the latest.

    Thanks!!

    Dale

    Hey Dale,
Even though it 'looks' like you can communicate with your server, the port for SQL may not be open. Do you have a firewall running on the Server? If so, you can specify ports (or programs) to be opened to allow connectivity. I know SQL Server uses port 1433, but Im not sure about sql express. A quick test would be to disable windows firewall completely and see if that resolves the issue.

    Wile E.

    Garry,
It looks like your HD-PVR has been added to the next build... Change Log

I also noticed this in the notes -> "Also ported quality control support from analog cards to hdpvr", does that mean we will be able to choose the quality of our recordings now?
