Did you remember to map your channels? How are you blasting your STB or are you just hand changing channels at the moment? Can you preview a channel in the TV Server Config window on the channels tab and hand change the channels and see anything? You may have to change your decoders under Television in MP Config if you can see in the TV Server config, but not MP.

Yes, I did that. Right now I'm manually changing the channels, I need to get a new IR Blaster. How do I preview a channel in the config window? Is it under the manual control? If so, there's nothing there. I'll look over the thread tomorrow to see what I can figure out.

I think I'm about done for the night...I quickly read over the past few pages and changed some settings to match y'all's and am still not getting anything. A couple things I noted...I am running Vista and I think Wile E said to make sure you had Aero, what is this? Also, when i pull up the TV Guide in MP and click on a show it says something along the lines of "unable to start timeshifting. No free card available" what does that mean?

    MisterD,
    Here are the logs...

Please let me know if you need any other information.

    Thanks

Thanks. Again a stupid mistake :(
You can find attached a fixed version. There the graph building should work again.

BTW: The MPC H264 decoder isn't working in TV, also ffdshow video decoder doesn't work with TV in MP. The ffdshow audio decoder works. The H264 decoders from Arcsoft, PowerDVD and CoreAVC should work.

@edit: Attachment removed for new version.

    MisterD,
Unfortunately this one does not work corrctly. I copied the new file and here are the results.

    1. TV Server started okay, but there are two new tuners called 'analog' and the two previous tuners are marked as 'unknown'.
    2. I checked the new analog tuners and unchecked the unknown tuners.
    3. I mapped the channels to the new analog tuners.
    4. Manual Control in the TV Server config was able to start timeshiting, took it around 12 seconds to start.
    5. Opened the client and went to the guide, selected a channel but timeshifting did not start. Tried twice with no sucess.

    Here are the logs....:D

    :D for testing

Currently I can't see any errors in the log that are caused by the changes:
    1. It is normal that you have two new cards. The latest version is looking for a different component of the HDPVR now, which has a different device path. But the benefit of this is that during graph building we can start directly with this component and don't need to search it. Therefor TvServer thinks that it is a new card.
    2. Most of the time for starting timeshift is spent with waiting for the PMT. The TvServer waits ~10 seconds for this.
    3. Probably this is also the reason why it doesn't work on the client. I will look at the code again.

I will post a new version, when I found something.

    Thanks MisterD!

I have a stupid question, what is PMT? I have three clients, one of which I just built yesterday that connects to the TV Server and starts timeshifting in 2 seconds! The other two take 6 seconds or so to connect (These results are testing with Garry's build.) I am going to spend some time today trying to figure out the differences...

The HDPVR produces a transport stream. To give the decoders etc. informations about the streams, the transport stream contains a PMT (Program Map Table), which is repeated in a regular interval.
This packet is very important for normal DVB transmission for selecting the right elementary stream of the desired channel in the transport stream. Even if the HDPVR has only one channel in this transport stream, we need this PMT as this is the normal procedure in TvServer.

Here you can find some more informations about transport streams: MPEG transport stream - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I hope this helped a little bit.

I've had no luck getting this to work, alas. This is with the latest svn/Tvlibrary.dll although I first tried it with a clean install of the svn versions in the first post, then went from there.

It must be me and my lack of understanding how to configure this thing. I have the HD PVR working with both TMT and GBPVR, so it's not a hardware/codec issue. I have yet to be able to view either live or recorded tv inside MediaPortal - I either get "lost connection to the TV server" or "No free capture devices" when I try to turn "on" the TV in MP or browse to a channel.

I have two capture devices now - "Hauppage HD PVR Crossbar" - shows as analog - and "Hauppage HD PVR Encoder" - shows as unknown.

I wonder if the problem is related to SchedulesDirect and the MP plugin for it? New versions of the svn have problems with it - I downloaded/configured it when I was using the Svn in the OP, so I have channels downloaded and mapped to the capture card, but it throws an error if I try to configure the plugin in TVServer config now.

I have attached all my logs, hopefully someone has the time to point me in the right direction?

    Thank you!

    Hi Ixian,
If I were you, I would uninstall everything and start from scratch (a clean install.) If you look at post #252 https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/380641-post252.html of this thread there are install instructions. I would only recommend installing the builds from Garry on the first page of this thread. We are currently trying to work through issues to get the HD-PVR functionality in the lastest SVN. Also be careful to get the correct version if you use skins like StreamedMP and MediaStream, use version 1.0.0.

    Good Luck!
    Wile E.

Thanks for that explination MisterD. That explains why you see the PMT messages in the TV Server log.

On a side note, I did some research on the start times and I noticed if one of the HD-PVR's are in use, the second one starts up much quicker (this is with Garry's build.) That was why I was seeing a difference in start up times. If no tuners are in use all my clients take about the same time to startup, around 5-6 seconds.

:D again for your work on this!

I tried again, after doing a complete cleanup of Mediaportal/TVServer.

I installed the SVNs from the first post, then the SchedulesDirect plugin, then the Hauppage blaster replacement plugin mentioned earlier in this thread.

I configured the TVServer, it saw my HD-PVR as an analog device. I configured my SchedulesDirect plugin with my account information and downloaded my channnels/EPG, restarting the config/TV Service while doing so.

I then went in to TVServer config and mapped my channels to the HD-PVR. I noticed that by default they are set to "S-Video" when I believe they should be set to "RGB 1" since I am using the component inputs - have no idea if this makes a difference or not since I haven't seen it mentioned in here before.

In the channel mapping section if I select to test view a channel there's a 6-7 second delay and then a little window pops up that shows the channel - it moves for a moment then settles on a still image.

I then configure the MP Client, pointing it at the ip of my tv server, configure codecs for the tv client (Arcsoft, as shown earlier in this thread. I start MP using the default Blue3 Wide skin with no additional plugins/addons.

And after that, I end up with the same issue. I can view the program guide and the EPG is populated with the right channels and program info. If I try to turn "on" the TV it pauses for about 10-15 seconds, then tells me "Connection to TV Server lost".

I've attached the logs from the fresh install I did. Obviously I am still doing something wrong - any ideas?

    Now I'm really confused.

I tested Manual Timeshift/record in the TVServer settings - it works, I capture a file of the channel I am watching which I can later view in a different media player like Arcsoft.

However every time I try to view live tv in MP (stock, SVN install from first post) I get "Timeshifting not available, no free device" or "Lost connection to TV Server". Clearly the MP client is having trouble connecting to the TV server itself.

I noticed that by default it picked my machine name (single seat install) but in order to get it to connect at all I had to specify the actual machine name - otherwise it wouldn't connect, tried connecting to ::1 which is the ipv6 version of the loopback address - even though I am not using IPv6.

Any ideas, pointers, etc at all? I feel like I'm so close yet so far.
