    Hey Guys,

I'm curious about your experiences with the HD PVR.

My old PVR-250 definitely still gives me a better and more reliable picutre than the HD PVR - has anyone else compared the two? (I'm capturing on the HD PVR at 13Mbps from Component source - compared to s-video on the PVR-250.)

Maybe my source isn't high enough quality to be able to show the difference (it's a 720x576 source) - any thoughts?

    Garry,

Were you ever able to upload the fix for multiple tuners? I'd like to test it out this weekend, if you've had a chance to upload it.

    -t

Sorry, not yet. Can you help me out with something I need to know? I need to see the DeviceIds from both of your HD PVRs in device manager (see attachment). Once I see how they differ I think it will be pretty easy to implement the multiple tuner fix.

just some more info - I read about Shift - 1 and I did this and I'm getting an avg fps of about 7-8. This is very low and explains the "slow motion" feel. I've been playing around with this a lot and I think it has to do with the fact that there are 2 processes accessing the same timeshift .ts file at the same time (Tvservice doing the write, and MP client doing the read).

I did the following experiment. Set the timeshift parameters so that each file is only 20MB and have up to 200 files instead of just 20. Now start MP client and then pause live TV. wait for about 15-20 seconds (which is more than the time it takes to create the next timeshift file) and then unpause live TV. So now MP client is playing back the older .ts file and the TVservice is writing the newer .ts file. Now avg fps increases when I do shift-1 and playback is noticeably better.

Finally audio is often getting out of sync

I search and read about the buffering that has been done in mpfilewriter (since this is analog card), but I tried the mpfilewriter.ax file in those threads and it did not help.

Can I get a poll of anyone on this board that has made HDPVR work with MP with an avg fps that is 25+? If so, please post how you configured it to work.

What video card do you have and which h264 codec are you using?

Maybe your source is the issue - video from my HD PVR captured at 1080i looks excellent in MP, almost as good as my 1080i ATSC channels.

    SOOOOO CLOSE!

I've got all my channels mapped, but I can not pick a single one of them to play. When I do try, MP freezes up and I have to ctrl-alt-delete to exit.

    Darnit!

Maybe your source is the issue - video from my HD PVR captured at 1080i looks excellent in MP, almost as good as my 1080i ATSC channels.
I have an ATI x1250 onboard with HDMI output to a Vizio 47" flat panel (1080p). Also, I have tried the following h264 codecs: (1) arcsoft, cyberlink. I don't think the source is the issue because the video is perfect in gbpvr and arcsoft tme. Also, if I just go into tvserver and manually start the timeshifting and then open the livetv .ts files created by tvserver in MPC or other player, then the video is also perfect (audio does not play). If I open a graph on the livetv .ts file, it is showing with 30fps and also the video codec is the h264 codec, but the audio codec is "arcsoft audio effects HD" (which is not what I selected in mediaportal setup). If I change the graph and insert the arcsoft audio decoder and the play the .ts file I get the video and audio. I don't know if this has something to do with the audio decoder.

One more observation, when I start media portal, I sometimes get a warning that TVservice is trying to access ffdshow, but it is not on the authorized app list for ffdshow, and it asks me if I want to continue. Don't know why that is happening, I have not selected ffdshow as the h264 codec.

See my previous post. I'm only able to get 7-9fps w/ HD PVR in livetv mode. And when it is running liveTV, scrolling through menus, etc is all very, very slow.

Sounds like MP is not using your selected codecs. You can run graphedit while MP is playing TV and hit the button that displays a graph running in another app - this will show you what MP is actually using. If it isn't using what you selected you can use something like filmerit to adjust the codec merits until the correct ones are used.

Thanks for the reply. I did this, just to make sure i did the right thing, here is what I did. I run graphedit, then selected "connect to remote graph...". when I did this I see one graph pid in the list and I connect to it. Nothing shows up in the main window, but graphedit has the option to disconnect from remote graph enabled, so I assume it is connected (I can also pause/play, etc the live TV in MP from the graphedit buttons). From the menu I said save graph as... and then I stopped MP and opened the graph file I had just saved.

This is what it showed: It looks correct to me..

Another thing I've noticed, if TV service is running, I can't get video in TME... So it must be interacting somehow.

    This is driving me bonkers.
