Has MediaPortal asked you to uninstall a better version of DX?

Windows 7, I guess...? This is not (yet) officially supported. Try to download and install DirectX 9.0c from Microsoft manually. Run MP installer afterwards.

Installing DX9 will not uninstall DX11, it just makes sure the relevant files are in place for MP to work correctly.

Or more simply, they coexist nicely.

Actually Windows 7 should have DX9 as well already "installed". All the MP installer want's to do is to install a specific version (which I cannot remember on top of my head) of the DirectX9 redistributable DLL files, not the whole DirectX9.

4.5 is really old. I'm not sure 4.5.5 even is a version that actually existed. You should be able to install .NET Framework 4.8.0 on Windows 7 SP1

I compliment you on the thoroughness of your investigations. (y) Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas what the problem might be. :( Perhaps someone else will post with some suggestions. -- from CyberSimian in the UK
