Just some quick info, the skin will require that Mediaportal is at least RC3 otherwise it will refuse to install. This is to stop bug reports coming from older versions so if you are running an older build you might have to think about upgrading.
It was mentioned eariler that the latest version of MPTVs will be installed with the skin, is this the entire plugin so there is no need to installit separately? Are there any other plugins that are installed in the same fashion?

Preferable with as much disabled as possible
also try to see if anything is happening during stuck for the mediaportal process(resource monitor, disk activity, cpu usage, anything)
