Ok its good to know someone has it working in their setup there is hope for me yet.

Could you post version numbers of your drivers running, settings of them and what plugin version you have inc their settings so that I can try and use your setup as a guide.

    Regards Nick

The remote is setup as iMon remote in FrontRow.
FrontRow? What's that? What do you mean by that? Currently, I have my iMon configured in the iMon Manager to work with MP keyboard shortcuts, that's the easiest way I could find to make the iMon remote work. Which approach are you using?

He means frontview i'm sure, for your information i'm using the MediaPortal shortcuts in iMon also, easiest way to map MCE remote buttons to Media Portal for iMon users.

I do the same thing (with the mapping I mean). Easy as pie :)

MiniDisplay and iMon/IR at present are incompatiable
is a little bit over the top.
    rgds,

It's accurate as far as I am concerned. Currently :

    MiniDisplay DISABLED:
Frontview is running, display powered up, showing the EQ in my case. The remote works fine, in and out of MediaPortal.
If I now turn off FrontView (by setting it to never in iMon), the LCD powers off, but the remote continues to work in and out of MediaPortal.

If I then enable the MiniDisplay plugin, and test the display, the LCD powers up and I see the test message, but now the IR remote does not work.

If I set 'Force restart after driver start' in the Minidisplay advanced settings, and test again, the LCD powers up, shows the test message for a second, then powers off (the iMon software restarting after the driver load I assume)

If I set 'Force reload during driver start', the LCD powers up then turns off almost instantly.

It's pretty obvious from these symptoms that whenever the MiniDisplay plugin driver initialises the LCD display, the iMon software stops working, and doesn't process IR commands. If the iMon software is initialised, then the MiniDisplay plugin fails and the LCD powers off.

    Hey mid_gen,
only thing I could imagine is that you have a different display (newer/other revision/etc.), or other drivers respective other display firmware.
I left the "force restart" settings untouched. Everything works out of the box. or it is because of my harmony one.
Indeed your symptoms sounds like MiniDisplay is doing wrong. But perhaps your premisses are more complicated than on other systems.

Have you cehcked the thread regarding iMon knowledge database? Does anything meet your hardware setup?
And even more important: What does the logfile tell you?

I didn't have a chance to check the log files last night, I will do later.

It's nothing to do with the Harmony One, as I'm using one, and it's simply sending MCE IR commands.

I agree, there is something to do with whatever version of iMon and MiniDisplay I'm using. I've got the MiniDisplay release with MediaPortal 1.0.0.0 and using the most recent iMon software (it's auto-updated). Sadly, I just cannot have both pieces of software running at the same time.

I'm tempted to do a DIY job and wire the IR sensor in the case onto the IR header on my Intel DG45ID mobo, or stick the Hauppauge IR sensor in there instead. The perfectionist in me wants to get the hardware I purchased working the way I want it, without hacking it to bits though!

AWESOME that thread really helped. Although not perfect I now have a working solution. I'll post full details in that thread but to sum up, I went through changing every combination of settings in new and old drivers for iMon and MiniDisplay without any success. The end solution and seems to work no matter what I change for my setup is to use "RMxxx Remote" or simulate remote codes in my Harmony Remote. The issue I was facing was my Harmony 555 Remote was acting as "MCE Remote" which seems to get disabled in all scenarios of iMon/MiniDisplay.

    :D all.

I now have this all working......but it's a bit of a workaround, and no good if you have an MCE remote!

Change your iMon remote settings to Imon PAD.

That's it, when it's set to MCE Remote, then MiniDisplay + iMon won't work.....but if you switch to iMon pad, it will.

I had to remap my Logitech Harmony One to a Soundgraph iMon PAD, and remap all my keyboard shorcuts in iMon Manager....but at last I have the LCD working and my HArmony working! Result.

I really like this plugin, however my Imon Pad is not working while minidsiplay is enabled :(

I have selected the soundgraph vfd properly I think, and all kinds of stuff are displaying nicely, it's just that the remote is not working anymore.

    Any ideas?

Yes. I will make a contribution there:

iMon LCD + MCE Remote + Minidisplay = no solution !!!!

It eavely depends on firmware version of your receiver, and NO it's not upgradable.

I have the same issue mid-gen. I have a harmony and got it working by replicating the Imon remote but the timings of the buttons were horrible. Double jumps, repeats too quick etc. Seting the Harmony to MCE remote works like a dream but as per other people here when minidisplay fires up it blocks the MCE commands and sets front view to never. You may notice that simply starting front view again brings the remote back and it responds fine.

Looks like I have the firmware that isn't working right now.

Chemelli, do you ever think there will be a fix for this. I've noticed Minidisplay sets Frontview to never when it fires up and at that point it stops receiving commands. Any way Minidisplay can switch on the LCD without turning off frontview? If you turn off front view out side of mediaportal the remote continues to work, so it's something in Minidisplay that's causing the issue.
