You need to copy to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\' to replace the file, better to backup the existent one first

Can you try and report with log ?

Can you try without watchdog tools ?
And if it happen you can use it and select the third option to collect log
The fix should fix the current master code and the error is surely rare but can happen
So it's not related to the LAV Splitter branch feature but still the error can happen.

Now, if a plugin parse only the filename (mediaportal.xml) without the path, it will be change to the correct one
