Your patch has been installed and running for 10 days without a single incidence of the problem.:)(y)
    That's good news.
Unfortunately the internal testers have reported that the patch didn't fix the problem for them.

Yes, I have to agree, sad to say looks like I spoke to soon. I got a crash on resume from sleep following first navigation move at just after 17:00 today. as promised logs are attached. On the positive side the patch has significantly reduced the frequency of the problem for me, so thanks for that at least.:)

The only way I can see this progressing (because the patch won't be accepted as is) is if one of two things happens. Either:
    • One of the developers is able to reproduce the problem, and the ability to reproduce leads to a solution, OR...
    • You acquire more information about the crashes. For example, you could install a debugger on your machine, attach it to MediaPortal, and report the stack trace after the crash happens.
I don't think I have any hope of reproducing the problem myself. Normally I don't use sleep or hibernate... nor do I use HDMI for video or audio. So for me that rules out the first option.

I'm willing to try the second option.

I'll be more than happy to help, with the provision that the normal running of MP on my HTPC will not be adversely impacted. Please let me know what I need to do to install and attach a debugger to MP.

Normal MP operation should not be adversely impacted.

Attaching a debugger is similar to running MP with the Watchdog tool. When MP crashes, the debugger detects it and enables us to gather more information about the cause of the crash before MP is killed/closed.

I suggest to start by installing IDA.
    IDA Support: Freeware Version

When it's convenient for you, we can have a quick TeamViewer session to show you how to attach IDA to MP. Then it will be a matter of waiting for the next crash to collect information.

OK I have installed IDA. Please PM me regarding a TeamViewer session, if OK with you I would suggest some time tomorrow morning but bearing in mind I am GMT+2, let me know if that works with you.

    Cool - thanks.
I'm working regular hours today and tomorrow (my time - NZST, GMT +12), so probably won't have time in the next 36 hours. Wednesday (Tuesday evening or Wednesday morning your time) would suit me better.

Let's see how we go... :)
