MP screensaver (1 Viewer)

I saw a nice screensaver on XBMC.
That screensaver simply reduces the brightness of the whole screen. You can set the level of reduction in the settings of XBMC (0% - 100%).

This is a simple and nice feature. Must be easy to implement.

Can some one even think of it...?

Just blanking screen during MP is idle is somehow boring....

Yesterday i got my new Philips Ambilight TV. Greate thing, but especially for such a TV a blanking screensaver is boring....

Come on ...
Maybe someone of the developers can give me a hint where to integrate the needed code in MP?
I am willing to try it on my own.

Think that is a really good idea, blanking screen in my opinion leaves you in a uninformed state of what may be going on, even down to thinking there is a problem, when there is not.

I agree. I'd like to see a lot more options for the blanking feature.
IE, possibility to Blank, Dim or even allow the Windows Screensaver to take effect instead of the blanking.
That way, if you had a screensaver you like, you can use anything as long as it works in Windows.
Would also be good to have a variable delay that you can set yourself.

MP is still in a feature freeze, but once that is up, hopefully a dev can look into some enhancements.

I also like the idea.

In he mean time, I have created a screensaver on my basic home menu. Not that nice that I have to activate it by remote, but beter than nothing.

A nice small screen dimmer screensaver with lots of settings.
EDIT: sorry the dimmer does not work nice with MP. Aquarium much better.

any news on this, i used to love the way xbmc would dim the screen and i think it would look great if mp could do the same!

I'd like a saver that chose random album art and DVD covers and faded them in at random positions and slid them about a bit.

Maybe a dimmed screen with the random art just mentioned, and when media is playing, a video or music overlay that slowly moves about the screen (bouncing off edges?) with fanart in background.

Activated by timeout (inactivity) and also button on screen or OSD option. Option to use dimmed or black background. And not lose settings from Last.FM
