Although i really like some of the splashscreens posted, but when i boot my system (while the room is dark) some splashscreens are just to bright for my eyes.
I'm more into fanart, but the problem with fanart is that its get old after a while. If you want a basic loading screen here is something i made. I picked up the .PSD from kiwijunglist. I have no photoshop skills.. so dont judge me for something to simple
I serious think that adding a version number should be something mediaportal needs to be doing. Not add it to a splashscreen hardcoded.

Since over a year my MP sometimes stucks while showing the welcome screen. It started once a week now it happens every second time...
Update: Problem solved!
The electronic program guides (tvguide.xml) have been successfully transferred to MediaPortal.
The issue stemmed from the corruption of one or both of the mc2xml.dat and/or mc2xml.exe files, for an unknown reason. Consequently, even though the tvguide.xml file appeared to be updated, its content kept being an...

MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback.
