OK, check this. Open

C:\Users\User name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files

Set you File explorer to see system hidden files/operating system protected files (all files must be free to view)

look for files like :

mpcache-somenumber

delete all which starts with mpcache-....


If that helps, tell me as I need to fix something in core part of MP (fortunately only MyVids uses that)

Before I saw your message I did a complete uninstall of MP, created a new user profile with administrator rights, reinstalled MP, created the single movie test video DB, launched MP, downloaded actor info for "Keanu Reeves" and still no image.

Checked "C:\Users\User name\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files" as instructured but no "mpcache-xxxx" files (see attached).

Sorry mate . It's got to be something I'm doing as I'm the only one with the problem and I can reproduce it on two PC's.

Will keep at it.

Got it working mate or at least found out how to make it work

If a run MP as administrator (right click "run as administrator") it works fine. If I launch MP normally I get all actor info but no image as before.

Turning UAC off also fixes the problem.

That explains why it worked fine for me via MP Config (I always say yes to the UAC prompt when opening it oddly enough ).

I missed the part in the wiki where it says UAC must be disabled .

Only kidding as I'm sure you were You were, right?

I'm not talking about standard vs administrator accounts here.

Well, personally I find UAC to be very intrusive, so I do turn it off as soon as I can. I have never had it prompt me for access when I didn't want to grant it.

For my sever and main HTPC, they basically only run MediaPortal, so I figure that an admin account is the safest way.

Of course, if there is a bug when an admin account is not used, or when UAC is on, then we should address that.

Totally agree re UAC but I suspect many people don't turn it off by default and I can't say it bothers me enough to turn it off (until now ). Plus it does make the non-techies of the household think .

The account I was using was/is an admin account but that on its own wasn't enough with UAC enabled. I still had to right-click and launch the MP exe using "run as administrator".

I have no problem with it but I'm guessing Deda will want to do something about it if possible and if it can be reproduced just to avoid the same question being asked time after time when 1.3 is released. Assuming this makes 1.3 OFC which I hope it does because it's an amazing leap forward.

Well tbh, your problem should have been reported long time ago because part of the code in which you have a problem was done long time before I joined to the Team .
