Why is not in Mantis if it's considered as a bug? Just a though, but that could perhaps lead to some dev picking up the issue and making everyon

People would also stop asking this question every week:) Maybe put it as a sticky under gen. dev in the forum?

Cheers,
Martin

Any news?

Teletext subtitles is not related to the new TV engine yet, it's a kind of a bug that the background doesn't get transparent. But we didn't have time yet to look into it any further...

Maybe this can help a little bit.
I changed to these values in file Hamming.cs.

const int SUBTITLE_BIT_OFFSET = 8;
const int SUBTITLE_BIT = 11;

Then MP seems to recognize the subtitle page and the background gets transparent if you have choosen full screen mode.

This has been tested with SVT1 analog cable and Canal+ DVB-S in Sweden.

Not sure why it´s working. Maybe it has to do with the fact that the subtitle page bit is the 8bit of the 11 byte in the teletext stream. It is described in detail in the std EN300 706 which you can download for free from www.etsi.org.

Sorry to say the WAF is not better because the picture is not flowing as smooth with subtitling as without it.

I am a hardware guy and is not familiar with coding. I hope some more experienced developer can go on with this.

I really like MP and appreciate the hard work that has been done making this a great program.

A Happy New Year to you all!!

Sigurdur.

    I'm having this problem too. When watching analog TV, and activating the 'subtitles' page, I get the subtitles as expected, but the entire TV screen gets black too. On a normal TV the screen would be transparent so the subtitles get mixed with the TV picture. I hope this problem will be fixed soon, otherwise I think MP is great! :)

    Well, all that remains is to find someone who will add this render if it is a render.

    Thank you for pointing out that my analysis may be less than accurate. :eek: :p Although the change to TV channel 71 may not also have been applied to the independent radio channels (different MUXes), the logs that I prepared for one of the development team does show a difference between channel 704 ("BBC Radio 4") and channel 731...

    In the UK, the EPG transmitted in the DVB-T datastream allows each programme to have two genres -- a primary genre, and a secondary genre (i.e. a subgenre). The primary genre might be something like Film (or Movie in the USA). The secondary genre for Film might be something like: Action, Comedy, Crime, Fantasy, Romance, Science...
