Re: InfoService v1.32 - 5 day weather/Feeds/Twitter on basic home [04-01-2010] *PLANN

you can try to replace only the new infoservice.dll from the 1.5 beta with the old infoservice.dll from the 1.32 version and see what happens. btw: checked the hyperlink?

When i'm home, i'll check the sources. Anyone else has this problem?

1.32 works just fine (and have done so since we started the skin), but then again, it uses infoservice.xml and not infoservice.feeds.xml.

Perhaps you can send me a copy of your skin-files (Blue 3 Wide would be fine) so I can test if it has to do with this. It's not the ones available for download, but the others; infoservice.feeds.xml and infoservice.twitter.xml.

    :D

[edit] Just downloaded the files for Monochrome, but that doesn't solve the problem. Am I correct to assume that I just need to replace the DLL and put RecentlyAddedTestPlugin.dll in the same folder (Windows plugin folder)?

The test plugin is not needed, its only there to test the new recently added feature. I've had the same problems like you but with a different plugin, but don't know right now, how i solved this. Could it be some caching problems?

i can't test and code right. my computer crashed for 2 days :(

Would it be possible for this plugin to "see" the different background operations of MediaPortal plugins and display it in a nice overlay? It would be nice if you could have a little display with a meter showing scraping activity for Movies/TV-Series/Music like XBMC has when scraping movie data etc.

    Just an idea.

    Thanks for your suggestion :)

But thats not possible or it would be hard to achieve. InfoService don't know what the other plugins are doing right now, neither MediaPortal knows it. If every plugin uses a well-defined interace for an info exchange or something, this could be made. But this would be heavy work for me and the other plugin developers.

But anyway if anybody has an idea about that, feel free to post this here ;) From my point of view this is not possible (or hard to achieve).

Why not use the same mechanism that is used to send new items (messages)? A great suggestion emphatic, it would be very nice to know when mopi/tvseries/etc. are doing their "magic"... ;)

Yes, thought about that but that would be tons of gui message (for a %-Meter).
Mh, but a status message could be made (like "Scraping movie data for Hangover" or something).
But again this would be only possible if other plugin developer support this.

Emphatic do you have an example screen from xmbc?

Btw: ltfearme (MPTVSeries) has added support for the recently added feature :D

Edit: You are complety right DieBagger. This should be work if i use the GUIMessages.

I think all these suggestions should be posted in the HTPC Info thread, because there you can find all the information about running processes etc. Maybe asking Micropolis to expand his plugin? ;)

That box in the bottom center.

Labels would of course suffice, so that skinners can use this exactly how they want it. Perhaps with logos for each "supported" plugin (in configuration, the user can just tick the plugins they want to monitor from the GUI), so that if only Moving Pictures and MP TV-Series are ticked, only those would appear in the box. Perhaps an "auto-cycle" or "manual cycle" would be nice, so the user can wait for a set time, or just click on the icon to change what plugin data is shown.

    Hi,
in my opinion it is possible to create a "system health ticker", which includes (customizable) system informations of MediaPortal, but not from other plugins. This restriction could be lifted if a standardized interface would be available.
If the described ticker is useful, please post this in the HTPCInfo thread, suggestions are welcome.

    Cheers, Micropolis ;-)

Ok, thanks much. I will look into the instructions above. For the moment, I turned off the "Automatic channel logo update" in Settings (which somehow I had missed, I think because it wasn't an option previously), and the deleted everything in the Flat-default folder and populated it with my own logos. Works, so far.
