is it possible for the plugin to start with "show all feeds" as default? so you don't have to open the plugin and select that?

i've been updating skin for the upcoming 1.5 version.. using test5 from the downloads.. i renamed old infoservice.xml to infoservice.feeds.xml and copied that to infoservice.twitter.xml

1. i get errors in error.log:
2010-02-02 20:55:59.051781 [ERROR][MPMain(1)]: SKIN: Missing C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Skin\Black & White 1080\infoservice.xml

2. upon opening i get the selection of twitter / feed GUIs. i select feeds:

twitter gui is loaded and the buttons show different text than it should be (button 4 should be "select feed", but now is "select time..", button 5 should be "all feeds" but now is "update status"). they also don't work at all with error:

at InfoService.GUIWindows.GUITwitter.OnMessage(GUIMessage message)

Mh this could be, morpheus_xx has let me know for a couple of days, that the home button doesn't work, so i'll quick added this thing. I'will look into this tonight. Thanks for the feedback

btw: I think you don't have the language folder for infoservice. Don't know if it's in the rar file.

Another edit: Could it be that your window ids are wrong? For twitter gui it's 16003 and feed gui it's 16001.

edit 2 reply: indeed! as i copied infoservice.feeds to infoservice.twitter i forgot to change window id i still get the first error in the logs, but it all works

They should work. In the infoservice.log are some logging notices about language file loading. Just turn the debug loggin option on.

To your first error: Did made a backup of the old version? If so, put it outside of the plugins folder. MP loads every single .dll file in that folder. Even the .dll file that are no MP Plugins

languages are ok.. now the buttons are fine too.. i just get the first error in the log (about missing infoservice.xml)..

edit: how do you use languages from your xml.. for example, if i want to add a label for button id5 (all feeds). what number do i type in the <label>? in your strings_en it is id 2 for "Show all feeds" but if i type number 2, i get "Music" (from MediaPortal's strings_en)

The language is assigned in the coding. So the <label>2</label> won't work anymore. You need only to use the right control id and inforservice will use the right label. If you wan't a new language just make a language file. On the codeplex page there is a little help for that.

The feed doesn't use the proper RSS2.0 image tag. The image is in the description field, where the feed description should be. But the image doesn't belong to the description tag. This is a little problematic, but i will look into this. If every feed uses the rss standardization there would be no problem :>

yeah, i figured if i leave <label> empty, the plugin used the right string.. that's the best way..

about that feed.. i don't use it but i was just testing with it.. maybe in cases like that you treat the feed like it doesn't have any images (fill the default ones)..

i have one more feature request: i would like to see the age ("111hours 12minutes ago") exported in a property. also with story description. i would then use them together to show in a scroll box.


edit: i have tracked down missing infoservice.xml error in logs to InfoServiceCore.cs file, line "return Load(GUIGraphicsContext.Skin + @"\infoservice.xml");". you should look at it..
