Hi edsche, I've run into a couple of problems after updating to beta7. I've the following feeds enabled:

MediaPortal Newsfeed
BBC News
Sky News

When starting MP, only the MP feed is available, and no image is shown for the feed. The BBC and Sky don't show up, although the default feed title is picked up in the plugin config...

One other thing, there was an error that infoservice.xml was missing, is this xml still required by the plugin (it's not in the release archive)?

The infoservice.xml is still needed. But i didn't updated the skin files yet, sorry. For the latest changes please look here InfoService. I'll keep that documentation up to date.

The MP feed has no image, so InfoService can't download one For the other two feeds, there was a parsing error. Because of that, the feeds aren't in the list.

Never had this message, but i will took into that.

If a user rename the plugin name, the name is not taken into accound in subpages : "Infoservice Feed"

Can you change ti to reflect the name user configured please ?

The MP feed has no image, so InfoService can't download one

I mean the button image, when starting MP the button looks like the left pic, after going into the feeds screen and selecting the MP feed the button image appears

Mhh do you use the default images which InfoService will use? or does the MP feed now have an image?

I'm using 1.5beta7. The image that shows on the button in the RHS picture is the image specified for that feed in the plugin configuration, but it only shows up after entering the feed list screen and coming back out...

after upgrading to 1.10rc I get a crash on startup with the plugin enabled using beta 7

Without logs i cant do anything. Anyway had the same problem yesterday. it seems that either the maya installation or the streamedmp installation copy the infoservice.dll to the process folder were it dont belongs. if you copy then another infoservice.dll to the window folder you get a crash. so just delete the infoservice.dll from the process folder.

I've uploaded a new beta which fixes some problems mentioned here.
Psycho Reptile: I couldn't reproduce your problem with the image, worked for me fine. But anyway the beta 8 is worth a try. If the problem still exists please enable the debug option of InfoService and send me the log.

Hi Chris, just to let you beta 8 fixed the Sky and BBC feeds. The reason that no image was showing was a gfx file defaultFeedAll.png was missing from the Monochrome\Media\InfoService folder (found by using debug mode and checking log ). Also I had overlooked the new drop down box to select which feed is shown at startup. The other three feeds showed an image at startup .

A suggestion, there are two gfx files for each feed, eg: defaultFeedRSS.png and defaultFeedItemRSS.png. ATM the defaultFeedItemRSS.png is blown up and used as the thumb for the feed item if there is no image, I think it would be better to use the defaultFeedRSS.png which is bigger and can be used without scaling. And the defaultFeedItemRSS.png should be used as the default button image without squashing the bigger one to fit.

I've attached the images I've made/use for Monochrome ATM, perhaps they can help explain what I mean

Hopefully I haven't over complicated my explanation, lol.

you can do that in the skin.. by using string.contains or string.equals.. i do it already..

similar for the feed image on basichome.. (i don't do that). you are not limited to the defaultFeed and defaultFeedItem images, use anything you like..
