I just switched to Xfactor completely, also because it uses InfoService. But now I found out it isn't possible to read the news with this plugin!?

Yes you can see all the items of your feeds and when you scroll through them you get to see 1 sentence.
But with the RSSNEWS plugin, I could read the entire articles! In fact, that was my main source of news! And now it's gone.

RSSNEWS showed the text of the webpage that is linked by the RSS item.

    Hi,

    This is allready in place. Three options to go to the InfoServie plugin in xfactor;
    1. Add InfoService to the basichome menu.
    2. Goto plugins and goto InfoServie.
    3. The easy option. Press down when in the basichome menu makes the focus goto the RSS Image. Press OK and you are at the InfoService.

    best regards

I think zilexa already knew this. He means that you can only read the abstract and not the whole news. And this isn't skin related I believe...

Thats exactly what I meant :)
With RSSNews, you could read the newsarticles. With InfoService you can only read the abstract. Even when you are in InfoService, you only get to see the abstract.

RSSNews somehow parses the website and makes it available to read in MediaPortal.

Yes that's true, but i think for the most websites it's too hard to read. This i why rss was invented. To read news with other programs from websites. If the site has a simple structure, this were no problem.
But anyway i try something different to read the news completely...

The RSS heading and the abstract are a free service to ATTRACT users TO the website to read the full article, so that the advertisers who pay the bills will get at least some viewing.

Instead of duplicating RSSnews-service features into info-service, isn't there a way of marrying the two together? Using Info-Service as the front-end to go to RSSnews to read the article?

I don't know why that every news/weather site I've visited do not offer emergency weather or civil defense RSS that give continuous details for a given area. Hardly any have relevant weather news.

I have some 'small' issue.... Infoservice is not putting the weather on the basic home screen. I just installed PurevisionHD 2.4 and followed the settup instructions. RSS is working just fine, it's just the weather that doesn't display. MyWeather is set up and working fine. I was using MP-RSSTicker before and switched to InfoService with PureVision.

I did notice that another person earlier pointed out he also wasn't getting weather on his Basic Home. I'd like to see this working.....

    Thanks,

    Chuck

Hi chuck, here all is working perfect (I think you saw it from the screenshots on the DL page of PureVisionHD). Have you installed the latest version of this plugin? And have you DEACTIVATED the RSS plugin (even better delete it from plugins\process)?

On some timezone the plugin has problems to parse the date/time from the xml. This is because of weather.com puts no timezone to europe (or german citys) citys in their xml file, but for ex. america they put timezones in their xml. Fixed this already, i think i'll upload a new version in some minutes.

If you’re planning to submit a pull request, let’s go through the list of issues and their solutions. I or someone from the team will create a Jira ticket, and for each ticket, you’ll make the changes and submit a pull request. This will be transparent and straightforward.

Ok, thanks much. I will look into the instructions above. For the moment, I turned off the "Automatic channel logo update" in Settings (which somehow I had missed, I think because it wasn't an option previously), and the deleted everything in the Flat-default folder and populated it with my own logos. Works, so far.
