i bought a silicone 3114 pci card to run a RAID0 setup on my server (the card only supports RAID 0&1). is it possible to simply upgrade the Bios to turn the card into a RAID5 controller?

bios (3rd driver down)

thanks :D

ive emailed them now, ill post their reply later for anyone whos interested.

by the way, does anyone know if a RAID5 setup would be suitable for streaming HD content (bluray movies) over a network? ive heard that RAID5 performance is a bit slower compared to RAID0.

-------------------------

update: just heard back from them. basically they dont know whether i can just upgrade the driver to achieve RAID5. they say that they only make the chips, and its up to the manufacturer of the card to determine how they use them.

sounds to me like they dont want to commit to an answer.
