One thing i´m always missing: When watching a certain stream: right click and then "download this".
Or is this hidden somewhere.
I have to go back and choose download. Am i wrong ?
You can download a stream by pressing F9 or right mouse click and then selecting download. So not when the stream is playing, but when you highlight the stream.
Yes, we all know that - but what the OP is requesting is the ability to download what we are currently watching (streaming).
Imagine you are watching something that you think you may want to re-watch or perhaps you want to show it to some friend or your spouse?
This feature would resolve this without one having to re-download what is already being downloaded...
It is not possible as easy as you might think. During playback, the source filter that accesses the stream and downloads the data is part of a directshow graph. This also means when you press STOP - that graph will be completly destroyed (and must be - we cannot have directshow graph hanging around - they interfere with other playback). This is why download and watch are two complety seperate cases of accessing the data.
I like the idea. @offbyone from technical point of view that is understandable, but from the user pov it does not matter.
So would it be possible to retrieve the url or something like that from the current media item, send it to the download managing component (queue) and download it again separately? (independent from the stream)
The problem with downloading while watching from a second request:
Many websites only allow one request per IP/user/... to throttle bandwidth.
If we download while watching, you might get problems on connections with low bandwidth.
So we'd also have to wait until watching is finished or stopped anyway.
In MP1 a shortcut for downloading is already available by simply pressing REC on the remote while a video is focussed - So after playback of a video you liked simply press REC and download will start.
I get the point. Typical limited by design problem...i´m a software developer too but i don´t know nothing about directshow. From my point of view i would try to separate the download from that...
So at first let me tell you one thingy: Awesome. Awesome plugin... if you were a girl i would marry you
Here´s a workaround idea: Don´t download immidiately, add it to a download queue which starts after the "graph" is destroyed.
Can you please give more detail on the "rec" button ? Can i press rec while watching ? Whats the keyboard shortcut ?
The default key for Record is R on the keyboard I think. But you can only press it while in the videos view (list of videos is shown) not while playing fullscreen.
I compliment you on the thoroughness of your investigations. (y)
Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas what the problem might be. :(
Perhaps someone else will post with some suggestions.

Would appreciate it if someone could solve (or point me in the right direction to resolve) this issue.

@CyberSimian Sorry, I missed your last post. I ended up doing a clean install on the client and all is well now. It still doesn't let me go back in time when I change channels but it does continue operating from that point on. I'm ok with that. Thanks for your help!
EDIT: I now downgraded the server (as I did with the client above)...

i love how subtitles are implemented in the MP2 videoplayer, this is just perfect. 1080p playback is also very good. But video playback in MP2 is buggy when playing 4k material. Therefore: PLEASE add an option for an external video player! I'd LOVE to have VLC back as videoplayer, like in MP1! This works perfectly. You will make a...

I've done a few MP1 installs in the past and haven't had a problem, so I didn't expect one today. I just purchased a mini PC with Win11 installed. I downloaded and tried installing Mediaportal 1. I chose single click standard installation with no TV. It started working on things and I wasn't paying terribly close attention, but...
