    ok so here's my process...

1: PowerDVD HD (only used to open the BD disk)
    2: Start and run Clown_BD

works great, it strips the main movie out in it original format m2ts or ISO.

now here is where its get annoying when i use MKVmerge to make a mkv file (because i want to play the HD content in mediaportal) it looses the 5.1 audio and downmixes to 2.1..... urg and so far trolling isnt finding anything...

    anyone else having this problem?

Likely not caused by MKVmerge, check your audio settings in Clown_BD, alternatively just use tsmuxer and eac3to independantly (Clown_BD is just a GUI for these apps anyway!).

So you are using PowerDVD instead of for example AnyDVD? That works? Would be great, i am waiting right now for my BluRay drive... just ordered ;)

easiest solution which i'm currently using

use Slysoft ANYDVD HD to open the disk then use MakeMKV to create your files.

i'm using DVDfab for regular DVD... HD content i use the above method... it's quite far the easiest method out there...

i challenge someone to prove me wrong.

Why does MakeMKV have restrictions if its freeware? apparently the program will stop working after 60 days, and you need admin rights to run the full version?

*EDIT* aah, never mind, ive just seen that its actually not freeware :D

i'm just stating the easiest way to rip them is by using this combo...

powerdvd will work also but i really cant remember how to use it...

anydvd HD is the best and easiest they also support the latest Blueray encryption (i came across on the X-Men: Origins Wolverine disk)

are you sure makemkv isnt free.... i never paid for it. and i downloaded it directly from the site.

    the reason i like makemkv:
1: 1 button click and rip
2: you dont have to worry about the audio not being in sync.
3: its 1 program vs. clown and other methods of making mkv's
4: so simple a cave man can do it... :D

    dislike
1: it cannot break all HD encryptions (thats why i use AnyDVD HD)

I mean, right now its free, because its still in BETA. I am trying it right now with exactly your config. 3 minutes to go... the bug that it mixes down to 2.1 audio is fixed, right?
