Sports Scores plugin (1 Viewer)

I am thinking about creating a plugin that would display sports scores from Yahoo sports and I am wondering if there is enough interest in this to make it worthwhile.

Sounds good to me . I would definitly use it as I did not find a RSS feed with scores only .

Since it seems that using RSS would be easier than coding a whole plugin, can a RSS feed be made that can provide this info?

I don't know how feeds are made, so I do not now if it possible.

I would be very interested in a plug-in of this sort. I think there would need to be a few key features that would force this to be a plug-in.

1) Live updates (maybe to the point where if scores change on a game with your favorite team a popup message will display that)

2) The ability to have it overlay any other running application in MP but also be able to turn it off with the click of a button

3) Possibly integrating something like espn's play-by-play for games not aired on TV

I would like to be of any help to you and whomever is designing this plug-in, I have very little programming experience but will do anything needed.

I have found www.exactscores.com that has live xml, rss, txt and html of soccer, baseball, tennis, basketball, hockey and american football. Can someone check out how the rss feed looks with the current rss feed viewer? If it doesn't look that great, I will make a simple plugin that will format the scores properly for each sport using the xml they have.

There is a site http://www.livescore.com that has soccer, ice hockey and tennis scores.
I usually use the wap site http://wap.livescore.com which is pretty comprehensive with soccer.
I don't think they have a feed but info is always up to date and categorized by country, competition and divisions.

Like NeoLuddite, I don't have much coding experience but would like to help on this project.

If you perform a google search on the keywords: sports live score widget - You will find that unless it is a specific team you won't find any site to provide such data, at leat that I have been able to uncover. That isn't to say one won't be created in the future.

Note: I used the word widget since it seems that the Yahoo Widget is the more popular method to place info on-the-desktop.
