Two things I miss since 4.8c.
First is, when I leave the plugin and return back later, the first movie will be selected instead of the one that I left.

I have never used this, because I use select DB dialog on pluginstart plus always use default view "list". - can anybody else confirm?
Did you disable "Display Always that view when using this config" on Optional1 tab?

Second: I can't type the first n letters of the movie's titles, I can type only one letter. I have more than 1500 titles, so I'd like that filter option back

I just tried this and it's still working fine for me - accepting more than 1 letter entered via remote in "SMS-style". Even works in nonalphabetic orders for me.

I can confirm that the sms input is also working for me, even when my films are sorted by date.

Same behavior here. The back key has always navigated from my custom view (not watched) to the main view then to the previous window, so I usually use the Home button/key to exit My Films.
I did try using: <rememberLastFocusedControl>yes</rememberLastFocusedControl> in the xml and I have "Allow remember last focused item on supported window/skin" in MP Config > General settings enabled, but it still did not work in MyFilms as it should.

Ok, so this is not a bug, but a featurerequest ;-)
So can you describe, what you would like/expect and steps?
E.g.: Entermovielist, select a movie, quit plugin via greenkey, reenter plugin, expect to jump back to detailsscreen with last movie selected?
I could then check code, if this is something easy to do (as there is already some mechanismen to remember certain environmentsettings...).

Almost -
Use Case 1:

1. Go to My Films
2. View a film in Details view
3. press the Home key
4. go back to MyFilms
5. It should return to Details View of the movie you were viewing

That is exactly what you describe above.

Use Case 2:

1. Go to My Films
2. View a film in Main or custom view
3. press the Home key
4. go back to MyFilms
5. It should return to Main or custom View of the movie you were viewing, with the focus on the list item that was last focused

That is how I understand the 'remember last focused control' is now supposed to work in MP. However, something is hard coded in MyFilms so that it always returns to the Default View (i.e. Main view unless you have specified a Default Custom View) and the focus is always reset to the first item in the list.

understood, I have put it on my trackerlist - so I won't forget about it. I think I will first have to check, how other plugins are handling this - in general should be possible by adding some persistent "LastSelectedMovie" - but I have to make sure, it's only used, if no defaultview is used...

Please make this "last selected movie" optional, because I personaly prefer to go back to the main view when re entering to the plugin. (Because I have many different users of MePo here)

Guzzi - personally I think it should be functional even if a default view is used, but I don't know if you can do that or not.

Jean-Marc - if 'remember last focused control' is implemented the way it normally is, then 1. the skin has to support it for that window (xml) and 2. a user can choose to enable it or not in MP Config General Settings (bottom item). However, if I understand you correctly, you would wish to return to the Main view even if you were last viewing the details view? I suspect that would require an additional setting in MyFilms configuration.

I think vrm's original request was to return to the last focused item on Main view and imo that is the more important feature.

Oh, yeah. I have checked it in because there was a small problem about remembering the layout.
That problem has gone due to the recent updates, so there's no need for this to be enabled.
Now it works perfectly! Plugin finds last viewed item both in filmstrip - or any - view and details on re-entering.

My other issue was a false alarm, sorry. Spelling works with keyboard fine. It turned out that my TV interferes with the MCE receiver, which causes a timeout issue. I have relocated the receiver far away from the TV, and now it works fine.
