Ok, I just checked the BG2.6.0 skinfile - it seems, the multiimagecontrol istn't included.
I have edited the file and added it - it's untested, so make a backup of your original file and let me know if it works.

Just one thing: during the fanart change, the text stops scrolling (just during the fanart change time, so during a few millsec). And as the fanarts now change very often (!) the text stops, starts, stops, etc...maybe due to my slow computer (eeepc)

Another thing: when I enter to MyFilms, I chose the view "selection" "by genre". List view.
How is it possible to have fanarts or thumbs in this first screen of MyFilms? (DVD case on the left is empty, and no thumbs displayed in front of the "genre" (ie: thriller, romance, etc..) (in the plugin "myvideo" the DVD case shows 4 images, it would be good to have for example, for evey genre selected, 4 images of 4 of the films in the DVD case)
In the configuration tab, I think I did everything well.

Yes, that's caused by the activity of the multiimagecontrol. It's negligible on my htpc (new HW), but quite possible that the effect is more noticable on weak hardware. Nothing I can do about it, as this is controlled by Mediaportal Code / rendering engine. Alternative would be to replace the multiimagecontrol with the imageswapper of TVseries - that would be running threaded in the background - but still I don't know if this would be fine on your hardware. Anyway, I won't fight with that anyway - cul8ter has announced to support myfilms in fanarthandler in future versions - this would also mean threaded fanartcontrol and could help with your problem. It would require that cul8er supports myfilms fanartdirectorystructure and "safename-class" to find it...

Genre Coverart:
Coverart for genres have to be placed in the location you configured in the plugin. Location will be stored in the myfilms.xml configfile in same directory as mediaporal.xml is located.

To fill cover with coverart place appropriate png files in following directory:
<entry name="ViewsPicture">\\YourServer\YourDirectoryOrShare\AMC-GenreThumbs</entry>
Can be setup in the configtool.
I think I posted a link of a genrecollection somewhere here in the forum some time ago as a start.

Having "Action.PNG" will be shown in genre "action" - having "2009" will be shown if you choose selection by year and highlight "2009" etc.

Genre Fanart:
It's Using the fanartpath plus Subolder "_Group\<Viewtype>, e.g.
<Yourfanartfolder\_Group\category
<Yourfanartfolder\_Group\country
<Yourfanartfolder\_Group\year

example from myfilms.xml (shoiuld be ok, as you have fanart for movies working):
<entry name="FanartPicture">\\YourServer\YourDirectoryOrShare\AMC-Fanart</entry>

For you the categorydorectory is the interesting point - you find subfolders there with the categories myfilms found so far -
If you place backdrops in the corrsponding folder, e.g.:
<yourfanartfolder>\_Group\category\{action}\
It will be displayed in genreview when selecting action.

I thought this was automatically done by the plugin, using the existing fanarts and DVD art covers.
But no problem, i'll do that!

PS: Is "weather" working for you? (Nothing to see with MyFilms, but as I posted this question in another threat and nobody answered...for me it sudently stopped working , and I don't know why, I don't know where to have a look....)

?? The fanart for movies is automatically placed in the right directories - fanartFOLDERS for "structured vies" like year, category or country will be autocreated, but no fanart will be downloaded automatically.
And it does NOT automatically choose fanart from the movies for those views (like MoPics) - if you mean that...

you're talking about the inbuild weatherscreen? Yes, works for me - maybe check your infoserviceplugin to be updated, I think there had been issues some weeks ago. If you're still using RSS-plugin for weather, I would update to infoservice, as it's better supported imho and adds nice addons.

You lost a lot of time explaining everything well, and I didn't thank you...sorry, so a big to you!

I must confess that it was not easy for me to understand well quickly (!) but now everything is working as expected with fanarts and coverarts for categories!

Just another thing I noticed on this plugin: I have selected as default view "category" and layout "filmstrip". And automatically, the layout comes back to "list" (if I enter to the myfilms configuration, the 'list" appears as default layout!) It seems to me that happens when I shut off MePo and then re open.

@Doug and Guzzi: I´d like to see another approach: Why not asking Cul8er to extend his FanartHandler on MyFilms as well? Why invent the wheel again

Doesn´t work - have fanart handler 2.2 beta 3 installed. Nothing in fnart handler configuration. Changed the skin accordingly, but nothing is displayed.

I just wanted to check on googlesite, how fanart would have to be used in the skin - I think importing common.window.video.fanart.xml should be enough, if fanarthandler would recognize the windowID and selecteditem, right?

You might try with 2.2 final - but to get it properly installed you have to manually delete fanarthandler.dll from process folder. because cul8er had a problem with versionnumbers that otherwise prevents an update.
