Re: AW: Re: The Future of MyFilms?

Hi,

I looked into it and in fact, the import of XMM is either broken or never worked.
I can fix it, but I don't know, if the current importer might still be used by someone else?

So I'd like to ask to post some samples of older XMM XML-Files, so I can check.
I also need to know where the coverimages are located, as there is only the filename in the XML file.

Hi,
for the images I see that the XMM export creates a folder called images, but it's empty.
XMM has all the images in a specific folder depending on the name of the database selected,
eg : the database is in the XMM installation folder
C:\Documents and Settings\Gianlk\My Documents\eXtreme Movie Manager 7\Databases
and here you have all your collection db as Collection1.mdb Collection2.mdb Documentary.mdb etc
so for every db you have in this path a folder called DBNAME_cover

Why not using the field in the My films settings where it's specified the poster path? (just beneath the xml path)

Thanks, G.

That's exactly the place, where the path to Coverimages must be entered and the way to go.
I've read back to the posts in the past, where XMM support was discussed and found statements, that XMM Exports ware not "clean", that is not proper XML format. To be sure, those bugs are now fixed - can you export big allections and check with XML Editor, if those files can be opened without throwing errors? The one you attached openes fine without no problems - I will fix/modify importer filter by that one as example then ...

I followed that discussion too (as all the others related to XMM :D), but all the problems were fixed at that time.
Just to be sure I opened the xml with the whole collection in visual studio and I received no errors, I've also created an xml schema without any problem.

I guess you can use the sample of my previous post for all the test.

If you need any help or further informations just let me know!

... some progress ... general import of records works now. I still have to (almost rewrite) the importfilter - so for testing it would be nive to have a bigger XML-File. Also can you tell me, what version is used, as I want to add it to the menu - makes it easier in the future to know what version is/was supported ....

The version used is the latest one 7.1.0.2, but the xml export is the same since version 7.

I have the full db exported in xml, but it 5Mb compressed (25Mb uncompressed).
Do you want me to pm the full db to you??

Hi, I have reworked the XMM Importer and so far your file imports fine. With next release I'd like to ask you to test in your environment and report your findings.

    Guzzi,
THANKS for the great work I am having fun playing with this.
I have been importing my movies to AMC since the weekend and still have some work to do.
I used Movie Collector a few years ago but once MovingPictures was released I used it, I don't need html pages.

Any future plans for integration of subtitles?:)

    Hi Steve,

if you're a (former) moviecollectoruser, you could test the importer for it - or provide an export file, so I could test it - see -> https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...nager-support-fixed-myfilms-91755/#post699340

Re subtitles: MyFilms uses the player of mediaportal, so subtitles should be supported in that manner, as mediaportal supports it.
If you're just talking about the GUI: subtitle infos are displayed, as you feed them in the database. You can also create logorules to get logos displayed depending on your subtitle information. The standard set just shows an icon, if there is subtitle information present, but you could make more detailed rules, if you want to.

    Thanks for your reply.
I was talking about SubCentral integration to download subs within Mesfilms but I wasn't sure if it is even posible. I realized I could use the subs with Mesfilms. My hearing isn't as good as it used to be so I run subs quiet often. I download most of my subs from within MovingPictures and TVSeries plugins. Great stuff!

I haven't used Movie Collector in a few years I'm guessing you would need a resent version, I probably have some old backups somewhere. If you need some help I could get it going again and create a database, how many entries would you need to test because I have over 1400 movies now and don't like re-importing them much.
I liked movie collector because I could customize the gui as I remember but like I said it has been a while.
