I beleive the 'no free cards' msg comes when the tuner is locked on to one channel and u r trying to open another one, which will not allow u to. Check that u r not actually recording anything, and that its only timeshifting; thats one thing.
You could always click on the 'TV On' button to release the tuner from any channels it might be time shifting, switch to the new channel, then click again the 'TV On' to turned back on (this is only a way around it until you figure out why timeshifting is locking channels)

@CyberSimian Sorry, I missed your last post. I ended up doing a clean install on the client and all is well now. It still doesn't let me go back in time when I change channels but it does continue operating from that point on. I'm ok with that. Thanks for your help!
EDIT: I now downgraded the server (as I did with the client above)...

When I first start watching a TV program the timeshift functions works perfectly. I can shift back and forth in time and it works...

I meant use MP client to try to spot how it's requesting streams for specific channels and then try to do the same with VLC.
TV Server development looks dead so I'm afraid you're going to have to figure that out by yourself if it's even possible.
