One more noob question

I have dedicated PC for Media Center with MP
At the moment i use it with Windows 7.
The startup to the MP is kind of fast but i want more.
So...
Windows 8/8.1 is more fast then windows 7? True or myth?

    For me Win8 is WAY faster than Win7. I use Win7 (with SSD) on my HTPC and Win8 (with HDD) on my test PC. So even Win8 with normal harddisk is faster on booting as Win7 on SSD.
