Solution to my problem found

After days with searching, installing and uninstalling I finally found a solution to my problem. I have absolutely no idea why this worked, but all I (finally) did was to configure the IP address, mask and DNS servers manually on the HTPC. The funny part is that I manually set the same settings as the previous fetched DHCP settings. I can assure you they are the same.
My HTPC uses the following IP/Mask: 192.168.0.168/24, with a default gateway set to 192.168.0.1.

If I configure my HTPC to use DHCP again, the plugin can not retrieve data from thetvdb. I have of course checked both the net status and a full review of ipconfig /all to make sure the settings are the same as my manually configured settings. And they are.

Even if I now seem to have found my way around the problem, I still would like to know WHY this is happening.
My first thought was that it was DNS related, but then I shouldn't be able to browse thetvdb.com with Firefox...

Suggestions or inspired guesses anyone?

    Well I'm glad it works for you now, but as you say it shouldn't really happen. Watch how it goes for a few days, not that it comes back :)

    I seem to be running into a similar problem.
    I did reconfig my pc to fixed IP as suggested.
    but still I get this error
    Its as though the pages are missing.
    The other thing I noticed is that the TVrenamer application which I understand uses the TVDB as well, it has no issue finding the shows. Weird.

    I just solved mine.
    I replaced the dll again and now it works.
    While it said the date and versions where the same. Perhaps they where not. Anyway. Working like a charm now.

    I've been having these issues since Saturday but I had not tried importing any info since last Wed (8/27) so I can't say when it started. I have not made any changes to the system, it just stopped getting the mirrors.xml file. Since this seems to only affect this plugin could it be the API Key is no longer valid on one of the servers?

    I imported about 2000 episodes of different series this weekend with no problems.
    Then I had to reinstall the OS and now I cant get it to work.

    It reads all the series and episodes but then it only imports the first episode of every series.
    I tried to import series folder by folder and got 4 in but when the 5th was finished the database only showed the name of all the series and no information about episodes or seasons.

    Ive then tried to reinstall MP-tvseries and then MediaPortal but no good.
    Im glad :/ to see that there might be a problem with the thetvdb.com site.

    MP has no trouble connecting to the internet and I am able to browse to the API directory. I am about to do a re-install of the system sometime this week when I upgrade to RC2. I'll see if that fixes it.

    Can you let us know what versions you are using? Also if you could post the log files we will have a better idea of what is happening.

    Guys,

    I am getting the same error - related to the mirrors, I am wondering if thetvdb.com made changes to the API somehow.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    There is a bug in TV Series, if you try to import that many devices from a single share you will get exactly the problem you are seeing.

    I know this because I had the same problem.

    Waht you need to do is break your shares down, make a few folders like:

    A-F
    G-R
    S-Z

    and then put the tv shows/seasons under there, then it will work just fine...

    Well, except that TVDB is not working properly with the damn mirrors ;(

    please tell me it's not only me who are having problem right now? haven't had any problems reaching thetvdb before, but now i can't reach it from anywhere... (htpc, workstation, server, iphone)
