VFD is not working at all

Hi Guys,

I posted a question earlier, but so far had no response. Since I posted my question I have noticed interesting thing - If I enable external display plugin, I get no picture (only sound) on all of my tv channels. Disabling plugin brings picture back. Would someone be able to help with my problems?

Thank you.

Hi there!

I own a Zalman HD160 Plus (http://www.zalman.co.kr/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=281) HTPC case. It has an integrated "DFSTN NEGATIVE LCD" from Soundgraph with iMon IR and iMon remote control.
Unfortunately I am not able, to get the LCD working under MP, although i tried the mentioned iMon (Soundgraph) LCD Driver as well as the new CybrDisplayPlugin. I also followed the mentioned instructions to set up the display, but it won't work. The LCD stays in time display mode when starting media portal with both, the updated LCD driver or the CybrDisplayPlugin.
The only explanation approach i have is the fact, that Zalman uses a different version of iMon software. It's a special version for Zalman, version number is 6.20.0827, official version number is 6.01.0122.
Could that be the issue why the LCD won't work with media portal?
MP version is 0.2.3.0, but I also tried several SVNs with the same issue all the time. OS is WinXP Home with SP2.

Greetings,
Stefan

post the MediaPortal.log file here so we can try to figure out what the problem is. (zip the file first!)

Please post logs.... even if you don't think there is anything in the log that is helpfull...

Without logs I can't do any debugging...

Tell me what display you have, and post the mediaportal.log file so that I can see what's happening with the plugin on your system...

If you can't get it to work, post your mediaportal.log and configuration.log so I can see what the driver is doing.

post your configuration.log and mediaportal.log...

Please post your logs... thanks.

I need to see the mediaportal.log as well

And most importantly... post your logs if you are having problems...

please post your mediaportal.log and configuration.log files.

Unfortunately... without logs... I can't help figure out whats wrong....

Then post the mediaportal.log file.

Post logs....

I can't see what's going on without seeing the logs...

'nuff said.

Hi cybrmage!

Mea culpa!
Enclosed my two log-files as well as an "error.log". Don't know if that last file is important.

Greetings,
Stefan

You display is an "UNSUPPORTED DISPLAY"... When doing AutoDetect, the driver checks a list of known firmware versions to determine what type of display the device is... The firmware version your device reports (0x3801) is not is the list (which was derived from the list that is embedded in iMon Manager v6.01.xxxx)....

That doesn't mean that the display won't work with the driver, just that it isn't recognized by the driver....

IF Zalman has not had SoundGraph use a custom command set for the display, it should work...

I have added the information for the display to the list... try the latest CybrDisplay plugin and post your results...

Hi cybrmage!

First of all I have to thank you for your effort and the explanation of the technical reason for my problem.
Unfortunately it also doesn't work with the new version.
If I understand you correctly, trying to install the official soundgraph software release instead of the one from zalman, wouldn't resolve the problem at all, right?

Stefan

No... The "official" SoundGraph software would probably make no difference.

And I don't see anything in the logs... Everything appears to be operating normally... data is being sent to the display...

Check the plugin configuration.... make sure that the contrast is not set all the way down (to the left)...

Also... run Mediaportal... then shut down mediaportal... then open iMON manager... go to the frontview options and set "Use frontview" to "always" then click on "apply"... Does the display work normally??? (this is checking to see if the data sent to the display has caused it to lock up)... If the display does not work with the iMON software after running MediaPortal... power off your machine (completely off with the switch on the back of the case) then power up again... then run frontview to make sure the display is functioning... then run mediaportal again to see what happens....

Hi again!

Hmm, I downloaded the version 02_04_2008 and owerwrote the existing version of the dll in "plugins\process" folder. The old version was about 598kb, the new one is 600kb big. Also in the Plugin setup it says it's driver version 02_04_2008. Anyway i tried it a second time with no change now.

Stefan

Hehe, no problem!
I followed your advises. The display didn't crash at all, I was able to set it up by changing "use frontview" to "always" without a problem. I also did experiment with several settings within the plugin setup with no result. The display only shows the current time and none of the media portal menu points or anything else :(
Turning of the power completely (on the power supply) and start the computer again also didn't make a change.

Sad greetings,
Stefan
